Rumor: THQ Developing Warhammer 40K Game
A job posting went up on Australian/New Zealand game developer website seeking people for a variety of positions to develop an action game based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe, the science fiction tabletop army strategy game. The ad says “We want the most talented, most enthusiastic and motivated developers to join us and help push Brisbane and THQ Studio Australia to the forefront of Australian development.” The advertisement doesn’t specify what the title is, but a listing on the THQ website says that “we are currently looking for people to work on a next-gen brutal, intimate melee combat game using a world-class brand”. While of course the sci-fi nature of Warhammer 40,000 allows for lots of cool armaments like missile launchers, machine guns and the like, some of the truly cool stuff is in the hands of various melee soldiers. Everything from chainsaw swords to lightning claws that can rip through armor like tinfoil.
