Halo MMO Went Down With Ensemble

On September 23rd, 2008 in Uncategorized -

With the recent disbanding of Halo Wars developer Ensemble Studios, there were some projects in whatever degree of progress that got scrapped. It might still be underway, but it seems that one of the games in incubation was very ambitious.

Master Chief, the Arbiter and all the heroes/villains/low level grunts of the Halo universe were going to be making the jump to an MMO. The game had been in development since 2006, but since Microsoft’s Phil Spencer reported that there are “more than two to three teams” working on Halo projects, it’s likely that this could still be in the works.

It certainly seems that a Halo MMO would be a money-printer, but given that the crowd that enjoys FPS games might not necessarily be the MMO type.
