Pinata Vision Cards Stoke KI Rumors

On October 16th, 2008 in Uncategorized -

It’s been brought up and denied many times but it seems there might be more behind the rumors of a possible Killer Instinct sequel. For those a bit too young to have played it, the title was a Super Nintendo classic. It was a fighting game with a rather bizarre assortment of characters.

It sported a rather unusual setup; instead of two rounds each character had two life bars. Thrash your opponent into submission and he comes back up for a second try. Matches usually lasted three rounds as although your opponent’s life goes back up to full, you’re stuck fighting with whatever health level you’re at. This of course leads to possible humiliations if your opponent trumps you without using a full health bar and opens the door for some dramatic comebacks. Despite the title being popular enough to garner a sequel, it’s laid fallow for more than a decade.

Although people at Rare keep saying they’re not doing anything with the IP, it’s a cult classic which doesn’t help when things like this emerge. Three Pinata Vision Cards that can be scanned via the Live Vision Camera to aid the player in Viva Pinata: Trouble In Paradise feature characters from KI; the cybernetic Fulgore, the agile and deadly B. Orchid and Tusk, a tattooed barbarian from the second title.
