A 43-year-old Japanese woman logged into her MapleStory account to find that she had been “divorced” from her virtual husband. She then logged into her ex-husband’s account and deleted his character.
The woman was arrested on Wednesday and faces charges of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating data. She could face up to five years in prison and $5,000 in fines if convicted. “I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry,” she said. MapleStory is a free-to-play MMORPG for the PC that relies on micro-transactions for revenue.
