X360 Sales Fuel Microsoft Revenue
Despite the depressing US economy, Microsoft today files its first quarter earnings, reporting a first quarter revenue on strong sales of the Xbox 360. The company raked in a total of $15 billion in revenue, resulting in a net income of $4.3 billion.
Profits were pretty good, with the entertainment division contributing $178 million, representing a 20% growth in sales of the Xbox 360 of which 2.2 million were sold.
"Xbox 360 outsold PS3 by over 100,000 consoles over the quarter," said Microsoft senior VP Chris Liddell. He added that the attach rate for the console – 8.1 – is now the industry record.
