World of Warcraft Population: 11 Million
Blizzard needs to get an even bigger swimming pool for all its money, as the company announced that it now has over 11 million World of Warcraft subscribers worldwide.
The company hits the milestone in anticipation of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack, which is due out November 13.
"It’s been very rewarding to see gamers around the world continue to show such strong support for World of Warcraft," said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime. "We remain fully committed to responding to that enthusiasm with a high-quality, constantly evolving game experience."
Analysts expect WoW to gain another million subscribers by next year. Blizzard is already working on a new MMO, though it has stated that the game will be “different” from WoW and that they will continue to support WoW as long as people want them to.
