Capcom Sales, Profits Up Bigtime
Publisher Capcom is riding strong on its wave of games, revealing that it has made 31.23 billion yen in net sales during the second quarter of its 2008 fiscal year, a 0.4% increase over last year, and 1.87 billion yen in net income, marking a big 16.8% increase.
Strong sales of Monster Hunter Freedom 2G on PSP marks the increase, which saw a dramatic 47.9% increase in operating income for the company’s home video game division.
Its arcade division also grew 196.2% over last year due to the sales of Street Fighter IV, Sengoku BASARA-X and Fate/Unlimited Codes.
The company’s income is expected to rise in the coming year, too, with the release of high-profile console games Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV still pending.
