The DS is partly responsible for the huge trend of casual gaming and much of the rest can be attributed to the Wii and its intuitive gameplay controls. Kotaku has found a trademark on the Japanese trademark website that indicates Nintendo may be working on a method to bring the two together.

The trademark is for a ‘DS Houi Sensor Card’. According to Kotatku houi translates to ‘direction’ or ‘cardinal point’. Unfortunately this is as far as the information goes, as this simply a filing on an official website and doesn’t hint at any games presently planned for this feature, but it’s pretty likely that this really is a motion sensor of some kind given that Nintendo tested the waters with this in the past and if the DS wants to ensure their dominance of the handheld market, motion sensing is a tool to that.
