What happened to all those rumors saying the PlayStation 3 won’t get a price cut soon? A Wedbush Morgan analyst, Michael Pachter has predicted that the 80GB PS3 will drop to $299 in April. That’s a $100 less than what it costs now. He’s also saying that the Pro version of the Xbox 360 is going to get a $50 drop to $249.
Will that really happen? I mean Sony is loosing money on every system and a price cut will make loose even more money! Oh wait a minute, are we to understand that Sony finally found a way to drop production costs too?

If the PC is your favorite gaming machine then probably you are looking for support for those PlayStation or Xbox controllers to better enjoy the games. Luckily for you we have found a programmer that developed drivers for PlayStation 3′s SixAxis and DualShock3 controllers. The drivers will work with either Windows XP or Vista so you should be able to set them up easily. But will they work? Sony hasn’t released yet official drivers so they won’t offer you any help with that.

Sources are reporting that the Indiana Jones game under development by LucasArts has been canned. LucasArts however is countering these rumors, saying that the studio “remains absolutely committed to the Indiana Jones franchise. While we are aware that fans have been eagerly awaiting additional information on the upcoming game, they can rest assured that details are forthcoming.”
As you might imagine it’s hard to say exactly what’s going on with the game but with LucasArts’ propensity for sticking with their major IPs it’s likely that fans will still see an Indiana Jones game. It might be even longer than expected, because one possible reason for the rumors that the project has been scrapped is that in a way the rumors are true. It could be that the game has gone back to the drawing board in its current form and has to be redesigned from the ground up.
Now that the 1.1 patch for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Fallout 3is out, developer Bethesda today announced that the first of three downloadable expansion packs for the game will arrive on January 27.
Dubbed Operation: Anchorage, the download will contain around 4-5 hours of gameplay and will let gamers relive the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from China.
The pack will sell for 800 Microsoft points ($10) on PC and Xbox 360 as part of an exclusivity agreement with Microsoft; PS3 wont get any content. The second pack will arrive in February, offering players a look at post-apocalyptic Pittsburg. Finally, the third pack will continue the main story of the game, allowing players to join the Brotherhood of Steel, and will raise the games level cap to 30. It is due out in March.
The western first-person shooter Call of Juarez will get a sequel, publisher Ubisoft announced today. In development for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, the sequel is dubbed Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, and will take place before the original.
Techland, the original developer, is working on the game. Locations in the game will reportedly vary from a ravaged Civil War-era Georgia to the Aztec ruins of Mexico. The announcement also noted that players will be able to embody both McCall brothers across the story, hinting at a cooperative campaign.
The prequel is due out later this year on the aforementioned platforms.
While the Wii is often reviled and criticized for so many of its games being simple mini-game compilations designed to make a profit at the lowest possible cost, for once there’s one coming out that seems to go beyond the recreation of party/sporting/arcade games. Vir2L Studios, a ZeniMax Media company has announced a new compilation of mini-games that promises to at least provide some stylish flair if not necessarily innovative gameplay.
The title is Medieval Games and you and up to three friends will be able to compete in a variety of medieval games, including jousting, castle storming and archery. You’ll have the choice of different characters including wizards, princesses, bards and knights to play as, although this is just the first announcement so there’s no details on if those are all the characters or if your character will affect your performance in mini-games. N- Fusion Interactive is developing the game, although at this early stage no release date has been announced yet.

The current economic recession has become a nightmare, with many claiming that another great depression is coming our way. While many believed the games industry to be immune to recession, the holiday period proved that it is not invulnerable. EEDAR games industry analyst Jesse Divnich believes so too, claiming that if it were not for Nintendos strong holiday sales, the industry would be felt the full brunt of the current recession.
“Simply put, Nintendo saved Christmas,” proclaimed Divnich in a research note today. “Nintendo Wii and DS software unit and dollar sales will account for over 50 percent of all games sold in December. Without these sales, the industry would have likely felt the full wrath of the recession.”
Divnich believes that the user-friendly design, wider variety of software titles and the consoles price played roles in the strong sales of Wii and DS.
Activision sent out word that two Bruce Springsteen songs will be released for Guitar Hero World Tour on January 27. The two songs Born to Run and My Lucky Day release coincides with the release of Springsteens new album Working on a Dream.
You can grab the songs for free during the first week of their availability. However, after February 5, the songs will be priced at 320 Microsoft points ($3.99) as a pack; they can also be bought individually for $2 each.
The Writers Guild of America has released its nominations for the best-written videogames of 2008, and the nominees are rather interesting. Three of the games highly deserve their nominations (in my humble opinion): Fallout 3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Tomb Raider: Underworld, but the inclusion of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 and Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble are mindboggling.
It can be noted that only games penned by writers that belong to the WGA were eligible to be nominated. Hence, I believe, the odd list.

Bethesda has released a patch for Fallout 3 that fixes a whole host of issues. Some of the issues were game-crashing errors, others problems that made it difficult to complete certain quests including the main storyline. Unfortunately for those looking for an extra edge, the patch will also fix various loopholes by which the players could get unlimited experience.
The patch is available for download for all versions of the title, free of charge of course. If you’re looking forward to getting Operation Anchorage starting January 27th you’ll need to update your copy of the game. Get the full list of patch fixes after the break. READ ON »
