Remember the deals we showed you right after Christmas? Well it looks like some more game deals are coming up. Go to Amazon on Monday, January 12, 2009 and grab some cheaper video games. They will be featured in the Amazon.com Gold Box and each deal will be revealed one at a time. Which means we don’t actually know what titles Amazon has left in stock and we have no idea how much you will actually save.
Make sure you remember how this whole Gold Box Deal of the Day thing is going to work:
The first deal will be the Gold Box Deal of the Day. Its special discounted price will be available all day (or until we run out) only on Monday, January 12, 2009.
A series of Lightning Deals will then kick off at 6:00 AM PST. Each deal will be featured for a limited-time throughout the day until they are sold-out or until the next Lightning Deal begins. Learn more about Gold Box Deals in our Help section.
Be sure to come back and shop the Gold Box on the Gamers Gold Box day.
Let us know what you snatched from Amazon on Monday!

Just a friendly reminder: Nintendo has updated the European and Australian Virtual Console with the arcade classic Donkey Kong 3. On a smaller note, Enduro Racer was also added for the Sega Master System. Both of the titles retail for the standard 500 Wii Points.

Many users have experienced several glitches and bugs in Fable 2. Lionhead addressed these problems, but hasn’t resolved any of them. Today, the long-awaited patch has been released, fixing issues that have been plaguing players for a long time. Here is the list of fixes:
- The Ritual/Monk’s Quest — Fixed the issue with the Abbott becoming unresponsive if you leave Oakfield before he finishes talking. This will fix the problem if you’ve already hit it, too.
- Rescuing Charlie/Rescue My Baby — after rescuing Charlie, you are now able to interact with objects
- Guild Cave chest — resolves any issues with previous inability to retrieve items unlocked from Limited Collector’s Edition, website or Chicken Kickin’ game. If you’ve already hit this bug you should now get your items.
- The Spire (Pt2) — no more issues with ship captain being unresponsive
- The Hero of Skill (Pirate King) — you’ll no longer get stuck during Hero of Skill quest (Bloodstone)
- T.O.B.Y./Trouble In Bloodstone — you’ll no longer get stuck during T.O.B.Y. quests (Bloodstone)
- Your child — will no longer be chosen as an assassination target
- Furniture Shop in Albion (Bowerstone) will now always have something for sale
- Additional unspecified fixes
The delayed DLC for the game will be releasing next week, so the patch is just in time to check out Knothole Island.

The developer of the Tomb Raider series, Crystal Dynamics, has layed off thirty of its employees. When asked, Eidos said that they had to let go of their staff because they have “increased focus” on the Tomb Raider Franchise.
This dissapointing news comes after Eidos announced Tomb Raider: Underworld had sold 1.5 million copies since its launch; these numbers were under the publisher’s expectations. As a result, stocks have gone down considerably.
Eidos is still confident that the rest of the year won’t be as bad. They said that their comic book title, Batman Arkham Asylum, will be a smash in sales.

The official French-language blog for FEAR 2 Project Origin has posted word that a demo for the upcoming horror shooter will be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on January 22. However, Qore subscribers will get early access to the PS3 demo a week before that.
The site also carries word on the Windows demo, though it is vague, but still stating that it will be released before the end of the month. They are apparently pushing Monolith for an exact date, and are hoping that the demo will hit simultaneously with its console brethren.
FEAR 2, bringing more scary-little-girl-action, is due out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 10.
The first Dawn of War wasn’t up to expectations, admits Relic Entertainment in their interview with Strategy Informer, noting that they believe they have overcome those problems in the upcoming sequel.
Lead designer Jonny Ebbert explained that it took months for them to get patches out to the player, thus creating long waiting times and not enough interaction with the community. Their online play was also flawed, which they hope will be fixed in the sequel due to Games for Windows Live being integrated.
Most interesting, however, is the revelation that the studio plans on releasing a steady stream of free downloadable content for legitimate buyers.
“Free downloadable, regularly accessible stuff that enhances the game and then that’s an incentive for the people who didn’t buy the game to buy it,” he said. “So we’ve got a really bold, robust strategy for that and we’re going to be revealing more details in about a month, but I think players are going to like it.”
The action-strategy sequel is due out soon.
Harmonix has announced that popular rock star Lenny Kravitz will be showing up in Rock Band, with four of his songs slated to hit the PS3 and Xbox 360 next week.
The four songs are Are You Gonna Go My Way, Freedom Train, Let Love Rule and Mr. Cab Driver. They will cost $1.99 apiece, or $6.99 as a pack.
The studio also announced that two tracks from Harmonix-lead bands will also be available: Megasus by Megasus and Entangled by Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives. These songs will cost 99 cents apiece.

In a very rare move, publisher Square Enix has brought forward the release date for Star Ocean: The Last Hope, making the game available in North America on February 24 instead of March 3. No reason for the early release date was given.
The Last Hope is the fourth entry in the action RPG series and is the very firsttitle in the franchise to be released for the Xbox 360. While the game isnt being billed as a Xbox 360 exclusive, no other console versions have been announced yet.
