Fox News’ Gamers Week recently put up a video taking a look into the making of the super-realistic cutscences featured in Resident Evil 5.
Apparently, to produce the cut-scences Capcom used 1-of-4 virtual cameras in existence. What is a virtual camera you ask? Watch the above video to find out.
This marks the first video game ever to use a virtual camera during development, according to Capcom. Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 recently went on sale the 13th so go ahead and grab that to check out these amazing cut scenes we’re talking about.
You’ve got to love Kongregate, because they keep clocking out some pretty entertaining games and bringing them to you at the lowest possible price of free. Another choice title that just recently got added to their rolls is The Space Game, a simple yet highly addictive strategy simulation.
You play as part of a mining collective, building infrastructure for your little part of the galaxy. You’ll have to build energy stations and relays to get power to your mining machinery, and to the lasers and missile launchers that will defend it. Each asteroid field will get progressively more difficult, with more asteroids to mine and more pirates to fend off in the process of getting the rock out of the asteroids.
It’s surprisingly simple, just a few maps, but it’s also surprisingly fun. I was frantically hammering away on the map for several minutes, setting up lines of laser emplacements and repair stations. Sure, the storyline’s nonexistent and the graphics are probably original Playstation grade, but still—the price is right, especially THESE days!
Both the WiiWare and Virtual Console have been updated with a single game thanks to Nintendo today. On the WiiWare side is Evasive Space by Yukes Company of America which has you guiding your on screen ship through different levels using the Wiimote avoiding obstacles and collecting power-ups.
The Virtual Console gets Life Force from NES which is basically Evasive Space, except you can shoot stuff. More below:
Evasive Space™ (Yukes Company of America, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 1,000 Wii Points): Launch a one-of-a-kind mission to rescue the stars. The universe is going dark, and it’s up to you, Konki the Stellar Guardian, to set things right. Dr. Dark Matter and his roving band of space thieves have stolen many of the Constellation Stones that make up the heavens. It’s time to suit up, power up, recover the Stones and once again bring light to the night sky. Using the Wii Remote™ controller’s unique pointer capabilities, simply point and thrust Konki through 20 dangerous time- and collection-based missions in the harshest of environments. Navigate through narrow, mazelike astral caves riddled with space worms, steam pipes and mining drills. Explore vast space stations while avoiding turret fire, mines and huge crushing gears. Weave through cluttered asteroid fields and gaseous planetary rings. Evade the hazards, pick up precious items and ship upgrades, and save the Constellation Stones before the night sky is lost forever. Life Force (NES, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 500 Wii Points): This classic shooter, originally ported to the NES in August 1988, is a spin-off of the seminal Gradius series. Pilot the Vic Viper through six stages of intense action, alternating between horizontally and vertically scrolling environments, and take on wave after wave of enemies. Destroy particular enemies throughout the game (which takes place within the body of an enormous alien) to release power-up capsules and equip your ship with your choice of more powerful weapons, extra speed and shields. Utilize the power-ups carefully, though, as a fearsome guardian lurks at the end of each stage and won’t be easily defeated. You can go it alone or bring along a friend to take on the challenge simultaneously. Do you have what it takes to save your planet?

The Watchmen: The End is Nighwebsite has revealed the release date for the upcoming superhero game with a new trailer that concludes saying “download the game March 2009″. More specifically, the site is now emblazoned with 03.04.09, which also corresponds with a countdown timer that currently reads over 15 days.

The first of the episodic title serves as a prequel to the graphic novel and the upcoming film adaptation. No price point has been mentioned so far.
Microsoft today announced that Snowblind Studios and Flat Games multiplayer shooter Death Tankwill be released on Xbox Live Marketplace this Wednesday.
The title is based on a hidden game within PowerSlave, released for the Sega Saturn back in 1996, and allows up to eight players over Xbox Live (and up to four on the same console) destroy each other on a randomized landscape.
With the release of The Lost and Damned expansion for GTA 4 looming, new information has come up on the new multiplayer modes.
The following details are from UGO who notes that they are exclusive to the expansion, which requires a copy of GTA 4 to play. It will hit Xbox Live Marketplace tomorrow for $20.

Witness Protection
One team is cops, the other team is bikers. One of the cops is in a bus and must drive to random spots in the city to drop off government witnesses, while the other cops drive alongside the truck and provide defense against the bikers. The bikers are just trying to blow up the bus or kill the witnesses as they get out. It’s pretty frantic but very fast paced, since everyone spawns in a bike or a cop car when you die. Our well-organized team of cops will be able to keep the bikers at bay, but when the sides switched, our opponents managed to flip the bus on its side within the first 5 minutes. Whoops!
Race
Unlike GTA 4, Lost and the Damned limits racing to just bikes. The difference, though, is that everyone is equipped with a bat and can take out other racers by hitting the left or right face buttons. You can even charge your swing by holding down the button. The comparisons to Road Rage are pretty hard to ignore, though I did find it a little tough to knock someone off their bike, as each player can take at least 3 good swings before they go down.
When I first played Wii Tennis I thought to myself, “This is good, but it could be so much better.” Well, it seems my wishes have been granted.
It was recently confirmed that Sega’s upcoming Virtua Tenis will make use of Nintendo’s semi-new MotionPlus hardware.
But what does this really mean? Well it means a much more realistic tennis game is in the works and will be hitting your Wii sometime in the future. Too bad release date and even the developer of the new Wii Virtua Tennis is under wraps.

From Hockey and Football to baseball and soccer, this deal with Toy Island will produce an array of different training toys that will be designed to develop correct form and other skills in aspiring athletes. Good job EA, better make yourself look good before those soccer moms come after you claiming you promote childhood obesity!
First there was white, then black, now red? If a leaked document from Toys ‘R’ Us is to be believed, that could be the case.
As you can see from the above picture, which an Toys ‘R’ Us employee snapped from the store’s product database, it clearly states that a red Xbox 360 Elite console priced at $399.
There’s no telling what this product could possibly be, although Kotaku speculates it may be the Resident Evil 5 special edition Xbox 360 we’ve been hearing so much about. Hell, maybe it’s one of those Project (RED) promotions? Who knows.
