Gamers and developers alike have been salivating over the potential of the Wii Motion Plus accessory for some time. The device adds greater motion sensing capability to the Wiimote which will hopefully bring the console closer to true 1:1 motion sensing. High Voltage Software are currently developing The Conduit, an FPS title designed to appeal to the hardcore gamers the Wii has been accused of ignoring.
Initially the developer had said that the game would support the Wii Motion Plus, but they’ve now announced that this won’t be the case anymore. There were no problems with development associated with it as they reported that “Nintendo provided us with early hardware and good developer support,” according to High Voltage software VP and chief creative officer Eric Nofsinger. After some tests they discovered that the accessory didn’t improve the gameplay. As you might expect since the title is an FPS, the game is entirely based on ranged combat, which the Wii demonstrated it could handle from its launch with the Resident Evil 4 port and Red Steel.
I was surprised further by Newgrounds–and such a thing I hadn’t thought possible–to find a clever flash game there called Portal Defenders , in which a pair of animators attempt to defend Newgrounds from a series of spammers and other internet ne’er do wells.
It plays like an old school fighter, like a Final Fight or even an old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The action is however limited to one screen, featuring three doors from which each wave of enemies emerges. You must then beat the living…well, fill in the blank with your favorite here…out of them. The action is both fast and bloody, and with one critical but highly entertaining difference–every two rounds, you’ll use something called the P-Bot in a Zamboni-style fashion to CLEAN UP THE BLOOD. You’ll get bonus items depending on how well you clean up the arena.
I’ve got to hand it to Portal Defenders–they do a fantastic job with a simple game and a simple theme and even do a good job at infusing it with a note of innovation. I’m surprised and abundantly pleased with what I played.
I’m fond of role playing games.
Really, I am–they represent some of the best games the market can offer. They generally have the deepest stories, the finest graphics, the richest sound…a role playing game is like an excellent multiple-course meal. There’s always a new flavor, a new experience around every corner and inside every dish.
It therefore doesn’t surprise me that I enjoyed Infinite Undiscovery, a game that forces me to ask the question, is it possible for Square (now Square-Enix) to make a game without beautiful cut scenes? Even Einhander had some pretty good ones, and that was way back in the days of PS2.
Infinite Undiscovery’s plot is standard Square outlandish–a society of knights is advancing across the planet, steadily conquering everything in its path and establishing installations in their conquered regions, as part of a desperate bid to capture the moon and hold it in one spot. This of course doesn’t sit well with the natural order of the universe, and thus any place that bears a chain that holds the moon in place is infected with a plague of monsters, disease and fear. As is the case with this sort of game, you’ll thus be left to go forth, kill all the monsters you encounter, break all the chains holding the moon in place and set it back on its rotation, all the while fending off the Order of Chains, who first set out to subjugate the moon in the first place.

The guys at Joinkers have put out a game that just might get them sued into oblivion—Rihanna’s Revenge.
In case you couldn’t care less about celebrity gossip, formerly squeaky-clean singer Chris Brown was recently arrested for beating up his girlfriend, fellow singer Rihanna. There’s a whole lot of drama circling that particular drain including things like “she threw his car keys down the road provoking him” and “she gave him the herpes that she got from Jay-Z”, (not that any of that is some kind of excuse, though some will make a self-defense case out of the whole herpes thing) but what it all boils down to is he’s facing felony charges and she’s planning to take him back.
And if that incenses you, take a run at Rihanna’s Revenge, a quick little Flash game where you can throw left jabs, right jabs, combos and uppercuts at Chris Brown’s poor little easily damageable head. The animations are clearly the best part of the game, and there’s something to be said for the rapid gameplay that requires you to beat the clock even as you beat the Chris.
There are those that complain about the game’s lack of replay value, that it’s too simplistic and too thoroughly pointless to provide a good time. And yes, it’s true—this is really only good for a couple plays. This wasn’t meant to be a replacement for a monster RPG. This was meant to be a quick little punch brawler to take advantage of a major chunk of celebrity gossip. This may well be a textbook example of a flash-in-the-pan title; it’s not meant to be anything useful or entertaining after the gossip event that fuelled it boils off into the blogosphere.

Capcom previously confirmed the “hidden” Mercenaries mode, which would be playable only after the game was completed, but at the same time said that the Mercenaries mode was to be offline only, including the co-op mode.
New information at IGN suggests that that an update will be available at launch on the Xbox 360, which will add online co-op support. This has not yet been confirmed, and Capcom has not responded to inquiries regarding the matter, however, IGN has confirmed that the patch works for the Xbox 360, but are still not sure about the PS3 version.

Majesco has recently issued a press release detailing the announcement of Go Play City Sports.
Go Play City Sports will allow players to play sports with an urban twist on them. When I say urban twist I mean things like manhole covers will be home plate and fire hydrants and parked cars serve as gameplay obstacles. Kickball, stickball, handball, jump rope, rooftop hockey, and “shootout soccer” all all games that will be included in the bundle.
Go Play City Sports is currently under development by Digital Embryo and is expected to hit shelves for the Wii this fall. Oh yeah, multiplayer and Balance Board will be included, duh.

We just learned today that both Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson would appear on the cover of Fight Night Round 4 and already more information regarding the game has been uncovered.
Buried within the official press release announcing the duos cover appearence is the announcement that GameStop is yet again offering pre-orderers the chance to play the game’s demo before everyone else.
This isn’t the first time GameStop has done this, another example being them offering early access to the Killzone 2 demo. Oh well, at least they finally have some competition in the used games market.
