A new job recruitment page recently went live on Konami’s website seeking developers for, what else, a continuation of the Metal Gear series.

According to Joystiq, that mess of Japanese characters displayed on the recruitment page states that Konami is looking for developers for console and mobile Metal Gear titles.

Since Metal Gear Touch is on it’s way, it’s safe to assume that this listing will help in the development of more games like that. But what about the console? Metal Gear Solid 5 anyone? Hell, maybe we’ll see a Metal Gear Wii title.

Nintendo has recently released information regarding their usual slew of updates for the Wii’s Virtual Console and WiiWare services.

This week, we have a glactic shooter from Konami for WiiWare and a classic platformer which originally made its debut on SEGA.

More information on both below:

WiiWare

Gradius ReBirth (Konami, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone-Mild Fantasy Violence, 1,000 Wii Points): Blast your way through levels filled with alien spaceships and otherworldly creatures in this retro side-scrolling shooter. Pick your weapons carefully and upgrade them to create a devastating arsenal of space-aged weapons that will aid you in your challenging mission. Players can post their high scores to worldwide leader boards via Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection and see where they rank against all the other Gradius ReBirth players. Test your skills with Gradius ReBirth and see if you have what it takes to beat this action-packed arcade shooter.

Virtual Console

Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars™ (SEGA MASTER SYSTEM, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone-Comic Mischief, Crude Humor, 500 Wii Points): In this platformer from the 1980s, help Alex Kidd in a race against time to find the 12 missing zodiac signs hidden in six challenging levels-including toyland, the robot factory and an outer-space level-all complete with crazy enemies.

And no, I have no idea if the 8-bit minion in the above screen shot of Alex Kidd: The Last Stars is nude or not, you be the judge.

If you didn’t know, EA gave everyonea chance to vote on who they wanted on the cover Fight Night Round 4, Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson, at www.AliorTyson.com.

Well, it seems that the ballots were just too close to pick a winner so EA decided to slap both boxing titans onto the cover, pictured above.

Tyson had this to say about the decision:

“I’m honored to be on the cover of Fight Night Round 4 with Ali. He was a special champ, and I have the highest respect for him as a person and a fighter. People always ask me if I think I would have beaten Ali if I had the chance to fight him when we were both in our prime. Now you can figure it out for yourselves. Fight Night puts you right in that ring and gives you the gloves to settle the score.”

Fight Night Round 4 is currently under development over at EA Canada and is expected to ship for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this summer.

EA Mythic has recently announced that their new recruitment campaign for Warhammer Online is not of the conventional type.

Apparently, if you recruit 1 player you will get 30 days of free game time and then it gets good. Recruit 2 players? You get a exclusive in-game pet along with another 30 days of free game time, but it doesn’t stop there.

Recruit 4 players and you’ll get a Rod of Service or Collar of Servitude which both increase experience earned by 5%. Sounds pretty cool. After 4 players you will continue to get a free month of game time.

Sounds to me like if you keep recruiting players you’ll never have to pay for the game.

ragexh3 Bearing bad news for us all is the latest episode of GameTrailers TV where id Software’s CEO Todd Hollenshead revealed that the studio’s open-world shooter Rage definitely “won’t be out this year”.

While there was an initial confusion over whether he said “will” or “won’t”, host Geoff Keighley confirmed via Twitter that the game isn’t coming out this year.

id has remained mum on the title’s release date so far. They are still sticking to their age-old saying: “when it’s fun and when it’s done.” Next year then?

Resident_Evil_Code_Veronica_ntsc-cd Playing all coy and whatnot, Capcom is at it again, promising that there will be “new game announcements” at the Resident Evil 5 Launch Party this Thursday.

While they did not specify anything, it can be pointed out that the company recently promised Joystiq that fans of Resident Evil and the Wii “will be very happy very soon” although RE5 is being released on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The guy who made the promise – product manager Matt Dahlgren – further teased that March 12 (this Thursday) would make fans of Resident Evil: Code Veronica “very pleased”, adding that it won’t be a PSN or XBLA remake.

That’s not a guarantee that we will see a Code Veronica remake coming our way, but hell, why not? The game was released back in 2000 on the Dreamcast.

burn-zombie-burn More downloadable games news comes our way, as Doublesix – creators of Geometry Wars: Galaxies on DS and Wii – has announced that their downloadable PSN title Burn Zombie Burn will be hitting PlayStation Network on March 26.

It is an omni-directional shooter that is said to offer “humor and bloody zombie violence in copious amounts.” Hopefully that will translate to fun for us gamers and money for the studio during these dire times. This shooter will feature six arenas for cooperative or competitive play.

No price was given.
