The US Army propaganda recruitment game, also known as America’s Army, has a third edition well in development. FilePlanet reports that a beta of America’s Army 3 will soon be released for subscribers first on the site.
America’s Army 3 is rebuilt from scratch using the Unreal Engine 3, and will have several new features, including ranking and new weapon unlocks.
Despite being bought out by Square Enix, it was recently announced that Eidos is set to remain an independent development studio; this means we won’t be seeing Square Eidos pop up anytime soon.
Furthermore, current CEO of Eidos Phil Rogers will retain control of the studio and report directly to Square Enix CEO Yoicha Wada who issued the following statement:
This is an exciting beginning to what I believe will be an incredible journey. I am very happy that Phil Rogers has agreed to lead Eidos in what I see as an international marriage between our two companies, a marriage that will give birth to great things. Eidos is a content rich company and a culturally significant business to the Square Enix group.
There’s nothing that I hate more than games that force you to watch their opening cinematics. Yeah I know, it’s an attempt by the developers to engage players into the storyline but more often then not I just want to dive into the action.
Luckily, Killzone 2 was not one of these games, until recently that is. Reports have surfaced that after downloading a recently released patch, the introductory movie could not be skipped no matter how many buttons you press. Is this just an evil joke by Guerilla? Nope, after contacted by Destructoid they released the following statement:
We’ve had many reports of this. The QA team is aware of it and looking for a fix.
Let’s hope a fix comes sooner than later because I’m sure there are players out there who have been tempted to send their controller flying at their TV screen after being forced to watch the intro for the 50th time.
You guessed it, GameStop has secured themselves yet another round of exclusive pre-order content. This time, those who pre-order Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be given access to golden skins for both Optimus Prime and Megatron.
According to GameStop’s listing, after pre-ordering the game online or in person for either Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 you’ll be given a keychain that contains the code necessary to unlock the golden skins.
Activision’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is currently slated to hit store shelves on June 15th for the Xbox 360, PC, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, and Nintendo DS.
As our friends over at ThatVideoGameBlog have noticed, the Playstation 3 version of Batman: Arkham Asylum has left the Xbox 360 version in its dust in terms of pre-order numbers. Currently, the PS3 version claims an Amazon ranking of #176 while the Xbox 360 version sits at #478. But, why? Do PS3 owners really like Batman that much more than Xbox 360?
Probably not, it’s more likely that the boost in pre-orders has to do with the recent findings of The Joker being exclusive to the PS3 version of Batman: Arkham Asylum. I don’t know about you guys, but if I had to choose I’d take the version with The Joker over the version without.
Having been released as a closed beta back in February, Sony has decided to finally take the wraps off of their free MMO Free Realms — It was recently announced that Free Realms will be leaving its beta stage and be released to the public tomorrow, April 28th
Free Realms is a different kind of MMO, focusing on exploration, mini-games, and pet training (among other things) instead of hand to hand combat. Of course, it includes hand to hand combat but Kotaku reports it is completely optional.
This unqiue approach makes Free Realms a good experience for young and old gamers alike.

Considering the success of TheElder Scrolls series, it only make sense that some novels set in the universe be released, right? Bethesda sure thinks so, recently announcing that they have teamed with Del Rey Books to produce a series of novels baring The Elder Scrolls branding.
The first novel in the series entitled The Infernal, written by bestselling author Greg Keyes, will take place after The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion:
Floating high above the land is a strange and mysterious city that is casting a horrifying shadow – wherever it falls, people die and rise again as undead. It is up to an unlikely duo – a seventeen-year-old girl named Annaig and the Emperor’s young son, Prince Attrebus – to rescue the kingdom from doom.
