Yeah, the Halo Wars Strategic Options DLC pack wasn’t exactly a steal at 800 Microsoft Points (or $10) but what’s worse is the pack itself is only 2MB. This led gamers to believe that perhaps the content was already included on the original game disc which caused all sorts of an uproar.
Well, Dave Pottinger, lead game designer for Halo Wars, decided to sooth the anger and step in having been quoted the following on the official Halo Warsmessage boards:
None of the DLC was on the disc when it shipped. The game modes are a small download because they are rules. There is some new content, but it’s obviously a different type of content compared to a map. Also, the recent patch added a bunch of miss support/engine groundwork for both DLCs.
Yeah yeah, nice excuse Pottinger, but what about the price?
This story probably isn’t for those who strongly dislike any time of creepy crawler but anyways — A user by the name of VictoriousOne recently posted about a PS2 slim he purchased off Craiglist on the GameTrailers forums.
To make a long story short, his fat PS2 stopped behaving so he bought a $30 PS2 slim off Craigslist. After about 2 months of use it too stopped behaving so he decided to crack it open only to find dead cockroaches, cockroach eggs, and cockroach feces splattered all over the console’s innards.
Yeah, it’s disgusting, head over to the forums for more pictures like the one above and think twice before you buy something off Craigslist.
If you just can’t get enough zombie mayhem you’re going to want to check this one out — Konami and Nihilstic have recently announced on the Official Playstation Blog that a new game entitled Zombie Apocalypse is set to hit the Playstation Network sometime next month.
As you can see from the above screenshot Zombie Apocalypse is exactly what it sounds like, a run around and kill as many zombies as you can game. It may seem cliche but this is exactly what the developers were getting at; they wanted a fun to play party game full of gore and fun.
Multiplayer of course will be included in the form of 4 player co op with 55 increasingly difficult levels to survive. Konami and Nihilistic really focused on creating a game that will appeal to arcade, casual, and hardcore gamers a like and it looks to me like they succeeded with Zombie Apocalypse.
Insomniac Games has recently let us know on their official Twitter account that we will be seeing a Ratchet & Clank DLC pack for LittleBigPlanet soon.
Below is the tweet:
replies from @mmalex, lbp levells coming, r&c content done, coming soon hopefully, up next for mm, big pack, bigger than mgs even.
We’ll have to wait until the pack is officially announced before we mark this one down as definite but this is a pretty good hint at whats in store. Although, the words “bigger than mgs” sounds pretty good.
You thought using the Wiimote and Nunchuk for the upcoming Punch-Out!! was realistic? Get a whiff of this –The modder featured in the above video took a Slam Mans boxing dummy, outfitted it with a whole array of different buttons making for a completely unique way to play the classic NES title Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!.
Two buttons on the face for left and right face hits, two in the stomach for left and right body hits, and three in the chest area for dodge, block, and start button for use with star punches.
Honestly though, check out the video because you’re going to have to see it to believe it.
An alliance between 505 Games and Rolling Stone magazine was recently forged to bring the Wii title Rolling Stone: Drum King to North America.
Don’t go thinking you’ll have to shell out another $100+ for this game as it’ll utilize the Wiimote and Nunchuk in place of actual drumsticks.
Publisher of Rolling Stone magainze Will Schenck had this to say about the partnership:
For more than 40 years, Rolling Stone has been a staple in the voice of American music culture and entertainment and we are pleased to collaborate with 505 Games as we venture into video games for the first time. With more people playing console video games than ever before, this was a natural next step for the Rolling Stone brand.
Rolling Stone: Drum King is set to be released sometime later this spring and thanks to Kotaku we have a list of all 29 original songs cover songs that will be featured in the game; check it out after the break. READ ON »
Blizzard has recently announced that the 3.1.2 patch for World of Warcraft has left the public test realms and entered the live realms today.
Featured in said patch is everything you would expect, class changes, bug fixes, the like. However, the big thing that Blizzard introduced with this patch is the Equipment Manager which they describe as:
When enabled from the Interface Options menu, this feature will allow players to store sets of equipment, easily swap between saved sets using hotkeys, and pull items directly from backpacks or bank slots (must be at the bank to equip inventory from the bank).
This will ease the pain when you have to switch from your PvP set to your PvE set.
It seems the Strategic Options DLC pack for Halo Wars has officially hit Xbox Live for all to have. What’s included in the pack, you say? Well, thanks to Destructoid we have the entire contents listed below.
You’ll get 3 new game modes:
Keepaway: Teams need to capture a free-roaming Sentinel three times to win. Halo War’s version of Capture the Flag.
Tug of War: Victory is determined by the amount of units, buildings and resources that are left at the end of the round.
Reinforcement Mode: Units are provided in waves.
And 4 new achievements totalling 100 Gamerpoints:
One and Done: Score the winning point in a game of Keepaway against Legendary A.I.’s
Pull Hard, Pull Deep: Win and never trail in a Tug of War game
Freak on a Streak: Gain at least 15 population from a single wave in a Reinforcement game
Living Loving Bug: Obtain a Scarab during a Reinforcement game
And best of all it’s only 800 Microsoft Points. Wait, 800 Microsoft Points? That’s $10 dollars, right? And you don’t even get 1 new map? Is this some kind of joke?
Perhaps Microsoft is testing us to see who the real Halo fans are. Then again, probably not.
We haven’t heard much out of Stockholm based Avalanche Studios since Just Cause 2‘s announcement but today brings some unfortunate news — The Swiss developement studio has announced that they have been forced to lay off 20 employees due to current economic conditions.
However, Avalanche CEO Christofer Sundberg assures us that these layoffs will not affect the studio’s projects with Just Cause 2 set to be showcased at next month’s E3. Oh yeah, it’s going to be big.
Valve has revealed the third unlock for the Spy in the Sniper/Spy series. The new weapon is a gun called “The Ambassador”, and like the regular Spy gun, holds six bullets, and that’s all it has in common. The Ambassador is claimed to have sniper like accuracy and firepower, however, it’s required to cool down before firing again.
