Earlier today Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer let everyone know that there will be a new Xbox 360 console released in 2010 sporting a built-in camera.
Well, according to Microsoft Ballmer may need to get his facts straight; Director of Productive Management for the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live over at Microsoft, Aaron Greenberg, told Kotaku:
There will be no new console… We’re not going to be launching a new console any time soon. I really believe he was speaking about Project Natal. We want to make sure people know that we’re excited about Project Natal but we’re barely halfway through this generation. We’re happy with the Xbox 360, so there are no changes from that standpoint. For the time being, we’re really just showing a new category of gaming.
Who will you believe? Steve Ballmer, or Aaron Greenberg. While it’s possible that Ballmer slipped up and announced a product before it was supposed to be announced it’s also possible that he got a new console mixed up with Project Natal. Either way, we shall see how this story unfolds as this isn’t the first time Microsoft has denied a new console rumor.

Racing fans everywhere mourned the death of the great Colin McRae after his unfortunate helicopter accident back in 2007. Furthermore it left fans of the popular DiRT series wondering if the franchise would push on.
Well, despite the tragic death, 2008 rolled around and DiRT 2 was announced still sporting the Colin McRae branding. The game’s title isn’t the only appearance Colin McRae will be making as according to MTV Multiplayer, there will be some other subtle and not-so-subtle acknoledgements in his memory.
Apparantly, a large chunk of the game will have players working to qualify for a Colin McRae Memorial Cup. Additionally, Codemaster’s Mark Turosz was quoted to have said “You’ll hear other drivers talking about him. He’s the central figure in the narrative.”
Colin McRae: DiRT 2 is set to hit shelves for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in September of this year.

Now, this isn’t an official announcement from Activison but if the recent product listings are to be believed from both Amazon and GameStop then we may have a hint on when DJ Hero will be released and at what price point.
Both websites have DJ Hero (bundled with the turn-table controller) slated for an October 27th release date at $119.99 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. The difference between the two however is that while GameStop has the PS2 version of DJ Hero priced at $119.99 the Amazon listing has it at $99.
Who is to be believed? Well, if all of this is true then Amazon’s listing makes sense considering the PS2 is a last generation console. Then again, there is no telling if any of this is true until Activision comes forward and makes an announcement of their own regarding DJ Hero‘s release date and price.

America’s Army 3 has just been released, and so far it has been a troubled release, with a lot of users reporting a lot of bugs and issues with the game.
To make matters worse, it looks like the Army-run Emeryville, CA studio that developed the game is shutting down and the staff let go, or rather, discharged. Word is that further development of the game will take place at the Army facility in Redstone Arsenal, AL.
This will inevitably lead to other problems: the current issues with the game. It’s gonna take a lot of time before the new team has been brought up to date with the systems and code base, meaning it will take a lwhile to fix the current bugs.
NCsoft’s upcoming MMO Aion (they make a lot of MMOs, in case you didn’t notice), will be getting a collector’s edition, like many other NCsoft MMO titles.
The Aion Collector’s Edition will include a figurine (pictured above) and the game’s soundtrack as well. Oh, and it’ll also come in a great looking box (also picture above), for $70. Pre-ordering the set will give players exclusive in-game items as well.

NovaLogic, developers of the Delta Force series have released 16 of their games on Steam, which include all of the Delta Force titles, and also includes classics like Joint Operations and F22 Lightning 3. The games carry a 10% discount during the first week on Steam. Check out the full selection here.
Limited Edition games are nothing new, especially when it comes to highly anticipated ones, like Forza Motorsport 3.
Microsoft has revealed that a Limited Edition Forza 3 will be released, which will include the game, a 2 GB Forza 3 branded USB key chain, several exclusive in-game cars, a dashboard theme and a “VIP Membership” to the Forza 3 online community. The Limited Edition will be priced at a hefty $80, $20 more than the standard edition when it comes out this September.
If you’ve ever shopped in Gamestop you’ve probably dealt with this before. You come in, asking for a game that isn’t you hadn’t gotten around to picking up yet. Then you spend the next ten minutes trying to convince the guy working the counter that no, saving five dollars isn’t worth getting a used copy of the game. It’s a similar shtick in many retail stores. The poor chumps who work there are instructed to push certain products, deals or unnecessary warranties on any and all who enter.
A company memo was circulated instructing managers that their policy regarding pushing used copies of games sixty days after their release is being rescinded. This was apparently done in favor of better vendor relations. Though some in the industry say used game sales aren’t as much of a threat as some think, many publishers and developers aren’t terribly happy that potential revenue is going into the pockets of those who simply run a chain of retail stores instead of those who actually create the games.
So much for the denials Microsoft’s PR folks have been doing the last few days, as Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer confirmed that a new Xbox 360 will be released in 2010. Ballmer revealed the news during a speech at The Executive Club in Chicago. Ballmer stated that the new console will have built in camera and a revolutionary new interface.
It’s almost certain that he’s talking about “Project Natal”, which was revealed at E3. As for the “new console”, it most likely means a new version of the Xbox 360, with some updated internal hardware (like 45nm parts of the CPU and GPU).

Relic has announced a huge update for the RTS Dawn of War 2. The update will bring new features, gameplay tweaks and new content, which is said to be a whopping 8 new maps, ranging from 1v1 to 3v3 player sizes. An open beta will be held for the patch early next month
