Now before you continuing reading, if you are actually planning on purchasing Rock Band or Guitar Hero head here because they are selling out fast.

Anyways, Gamestop has recently announced a Music Blowout sale which will slash prices across the board on everything from Guitar Hero: Aerosmith to Rock Band 2. Unfortunately, as I stated above, the bundles are selling out extremely quick but you can still pick up, for instance, Guitar Hero: World Tour bundled with a guitar controller for just $49.99, a huge savings from the original $99.99.

There’s no official word as to why Gamestop is doing this but a hunch says it’s in anticipation of games like The Beatles: Rock Band and Guitar Hero 5.

If you thought you were a fan of the Gundam series, check this out — It was recently made known that a life-sized replica of an RX78 Gundam was rececently constructed and is nearing completion.

The statue came to existence to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Gundam franchise. The mammoth stands 59-feet tall and was constructed from a steel frame covered with fiberglass-reinforced plastic.

Unfortunately, the display will only stand for about 2-months in Obaiba’s Shiokaze Park however the statue’s 50-points of illumination along with 14-points of mist emission along with a moveable head will make for a great spectacle.

Major Nelson has recently reported on his official blog that the Xbox Live service will be down for up to 24 hours starting on Tuesday, June 16th at 12:01 AM PST. This downtime includes the ‘My Xbox’ portion of Xbox.com along with making it impossible for users to post on the Xbox forums.

This window of downtime will give Microsoft the chance to prep the service for the new Xbox Live features that were announced at this year’s E3. Those features include Last.fm, Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm and more.

However, please make note that you will not gain access to these features once Xbox Live goes back up as they will not officially go live until later this year.

The hardware battle between the Xbox 360 and the PS3 has been going on ever since the technical specs of the consoles were released, fanboys arguing over which console was the most powerful.

Patrick Soderlund, senior vice president of EA Games Europe, said to Joystiq, “I do think that we’ll see developers inside the organization getting to understand the PS3 better and I think that we’re getting more power out of PS3 right now… I think that we’ve maxed out the 360 but we haven’t maxed out the PS3″.

Granted, the developers have had the Xbox 360 system to work on a full year more than the PS3, when both systems have been “maxed out”, the comparison between them would be more appropriate.

EA has finally confirmed that Battlefield 3 is in development, after years of rumors and speculations. Although it didn’t come in the form of an “announcement”, but rather during a meeting with investors.

During the William Blair Growth Stock Conference, EA COO John Pleasants revealed that he saw the game at DICE, saying “I’ve had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product. Pleasants also revealed that the game would not ship “this fiscal year”, which means the earliest release date would be Summer 2010. Battlefield 2 was released in Summer 2005.

I have to admit that it’s nice–downright nice!–to be able to play a Wii game that doesn’t rack my arms or shoulder all to ruination, and I got my chance with one such game today, Super Paper Mario.  And while I’d set out to play this one with little more than a hope of rest, what I found instead was a surprisingly decent RPG built around action elements and a whole searing load of nostalgia.  Big N seems to love to pound my nostalgia button and usually to good effect.

Super Paper Mario may be the most surprising epic I’ve ever found, featuring Mario and Luigi hanging around their house and wishing that something would for crying out loud happen already.  Naturally, they get their wish and Princess Peach has been kidnapped once again.  Suspecting Bowser, King of the Koopa, the brothers rush to his palace only to discover that, for once, he had absolutely nothing to do with it and the plumbers had landed on him while he was planning to do what had already been done.  The discovery is made that a new evil, in the form of Count Bleck, was the one behind the kidnapping.  Count Bleck has a plan that easily trumps anything Bowser ever came up with for terms of sheer catastrophic evil, namely, the summoning of a massive void that will destroy all reality everywhere as the inhabitants know it.  It’s up to Mario to go forth and tangle with Bleck and his numerous minions to rescue the princess and save all reality.

While the game itself controls much like the original Super Mario Brothers, with the Wiimote held like an original two button NES controller, you’ll occasionally use the Wiimote in its newest form to analyze monsters and locations for added effect.  This is a fairly interesting new twist on an old classic, which lends a note of credibility to the proceedings.  But the new twists don’t stop there–early on, Mario is given the ability to “flip” between dimensions, allowing him to go from 2-D to 3-D and back again.  But spending too much time in 3-D is clearly taxing on the normally flat plumber, as spending too long “flipped” causes Mario to take damage.  You’ll be able to collect and use a whole host of items for attack and defense, and you’ll also run into different fairies called Pixls that give Mario various special abilities.

It’s downright surprising to see Mario adapted into RPG status, though it’s happened before with the Paper Mario series, and even farther back with Super Mario RPG.  This time, Super Paper Mario gives us an entire large and sprawling storyline to go with your standard action elements.  Even many of the stages you’ll troop through bear a striking resemblance to those from the original Super Mario Brothers.  I found bonus level pipes in Super Paper Mario through vague half-remembrances of the original game, and this was a development that made me doubly happy.  Sure, the graphics are Wii-standard and lag way behind the next gen, but this is a truly minor point as there are so many good points to this game.  It’s a lot of fun and the control schemes are pretty nicely adapted to the Wii.  I have to admit, I liked this game, and there’s plenty of reason to believe that you’ll like it too.

Step aside Master Chief, this time Mountain Dew has teamed up with Blizzard to release not one but two versions of World of Warcarft Game Fuel; Alliance Blue and Horde Red.

Of course, gamers will be able to get an exclusive in-game pet, known as a Battle-bot, upon purchasing the new Dew but that’s just the beginning of it. Game Fuel drinkers will also get a chance to win prizes from companies like Alienware, Razer and Jinx.

Fans of the Halo 3 Game Fuel need not be discouraged as the Horde Red Game Fuel is actually a rebranded version of the original recipe. Be on the lookout for Game Fuel everywhere you would normally purchase soda.

Before we get started, if you missed the trailer that was showcased during Turn 10 Studios’ Forza 3 keynote, be sure to check it out above.

Now, the trailer is amazing itself with all of the cars perfectly choreographed but the real catch is that it was made entirely with Forza Motorsport 3‘s in-game video editor. That’s right, if you had the patience you too would be able to make the above trailer using only in-game footage and software.

But just how much patience would you need? Well, when Kotaku asked the game studio how long it took them to make the trailer they responded with, “About a month.”

Sony’s John Koller, head of SCEA’s hardware marking division, says that it’s “frustrating”, when leaks of new hardware occur, specifically pointing out the PS3 Slim, which was rumored a while ago.

But since Koller used the word “leak” and not “rumor”, and since he didn’t actually deny the “rumor” that a PS3 Slim would be released this Fall, it’s easy to assume that, in fact, a PS3 Slim is coming this Fall. That, and the fact that it shares the very same box art as the newly announced PSP Go.
