Steam is running another one of their popular weekend offers, this time it’s none other than the post apocalyptic behemoth Fallout 3, which gets a 50% discount, effectively making the title only $25. If there’s anyone who hasn’t tried Fallout 3 (both of you out there), this is a great offer.

EA and DICE have finally revealed that Battlefield 1943 will be available for download on July 8th for the Xbox 360 and July 9th for the PlayStation 3. The game is a download-only title, and will cost $15 on both platforms. Later this September, the game will also find its way to the PC.

There’s been talk of the next Wii Zelda title taking the series in a new direction. Some patents hinted at a hint system and drop in-drop out style of gameplay that would make the game more casual-friendly. In the lastest issue of Nintendo Power Shigeru Miyamoto said that this next game won’t be the one to take things in a new direction: “I don’t think it’s going to be that radically different.”

I’m guessing that any Zelda game which would be a radical departure from the standard formula will be developed separately from a standard Zelda title. While Mario games have benefitted from variety and changing gameplay experiences, the Zelda series has kept fans by keeping to its roots, requiring exploration and puzzle solving to advance. Nintendo relies heavily on their first party titles featuring their flagship characters and releasing a Zelda title that could potentially alienate fans is a big risk. They’ll likely release a fan-appeasing title before venturing forth with something different.

I know I’m going to offend some Resident Evil fans when I say this, but let me make my case before you crucify me. I think the Resident Evil movies were the best video game movies so far. I’m well aware that they weren’t faithful to the actual plotline. There’s an incredible amount of inconsistencies, but when you ignore the specific details the spirit and general plot motivation remains the same, with Umbrella being a shadowy corporation conducting secret research for their own ends, the ultimate repercussions to the rest of the world be damned.

They also featured a ton of action sequences that were a delight to watch and a refreshing propensity for killing off characters. There must be some people out there who enjoyed the films as much as I did, because next year we’re going to see the fourth chapter of the game adaptation. Apparently an internal memo circulating in Sony’s offices says that they’re excited to get Resident Evil: Afterlife in theaters by September 17th 2010. Paul W.S. Anderson says he probably won’t be back to direct, but Milla Jovovich will likely reprise her role as Alice, especially when you consider this is likely the most profitable film series she’s done in some time.

Visceral Games and EA are happy to reveal the box art for their upcoming Wii on-rails survival-FPS, Dead Space: Extraction.

There’s not much to be said about the above box art other than that it looks cool which means the game will be cool right? All I know is that that woman looks to be kickin’ a lot more ass than the dude lurkin’ in the shadows.

Anyways, Dead Space: Extraction will be out for the Nintendo Wii on September 29th of this year.

Back at E3 Microsoft announced thtat they would be bringing services like Last.fm, Facebook and Twitter to Xbox Live but we haven’t heard many details since.

Well, Facebook and Twitter have been put on the back burner for a moment while Last.fm details begin to flow. It seems that a Xbox Live manager by the name of Christina DeRosa recently said that Silver Xbox Live members will in fact be able to access Last.fm, but not like Gold members. The service will be completely free for Gold members while Silver members will only be given a trial that allows for 3 hours of use per month.

Finally, there will also be a subscription to Last.fm that will allow for completely ad-free music, but who wants to pay for that, right?

If you thought $119.99 for the US DJ Hero was a lot of money and are located in the UK, cover your ears eyes. Activision has apparantly told UK retailers, ShopTo in particular, that the MSRP of DJ Hero is £107.99 or about $178.

Of course you’re not just getting the game disc but also the turntable controller which ThatVideoGameBlog reports has no gold in it, unfortunately.

Have you ever been looking at advertisements and gawked at their poor quality, wishing they would be portrayed in HD? No? Me neither. But for those of you who have your days of gawking are numbered.

Microsoft advertising exec Sean Alexander was recently caught speaking about Microsoft’s Flash alternative, Silverlight, and it’s amazing features. Of course, he took the time to tell everyone that Silverlight will give advertisers to ability to display full HD ads pretty much anywhere they want, including Xbox Live.

Now, the feature won’t be added to the Xbox 360 for some time now with Joystiq predicting it will be included with the next major Dashboard update reportedly hitting this fall.
