What’s better than a bunch of Playboy Playmates gallivanting around while playing Guitar Hero? Well, the making of the commercial featuring said gallivanting, of course.
What you see above is a 7-minute video showcasing the hard work that went into making the latest Guitar Hero 5 ad. Sorry boys, no nudity here.
Activison’s Guitar Hero 5 will be out for the PS3, PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii on September 1st.
Those with a BlackBerry cellphone looking for new games will be happy to hear that both Space Invaders and Bust-a-Move are headed to the platform.
News comes to us from Taito who will be releasing the classic games for the BlackBerry both for $4.99 a peice. What’s better is the games feature 2 control schemes, one for the touchscreen touting BlackBerry Storm and another for use with physical button touting BlackBerrys.
Developers and Linux fanboys aren’t exactly pleased with Sony’s decision to leave OtherOS support out of the PlayStation 3 slim. It was previously only speculated why it was left out, but today Sony gives a reason behind their move; money.
“The reasons are simple: The PS3 Slim is a major cost reduction involving many changes to hardware components in the PS3 design,” SCEE’s Sarah Ewen said. “In order to offer the OtherOS install, SCE would need to continue to maintain the OtherOS hypervisor drivers for any significant hardware changes – this costs SCE.”
Ewen continues on to say that the main objective behind the Slim is to offer a lower price, and the cost of OtherOS did not meet the standards to lower the price.

I told myself I wouldn’t play this game because I would get addicted, but it looks too good to pass up. Anyways, it’s Defense of the Ancients except a whole lot better from what I’ve heard. Right now, the game is in a beta phase, but a few lucky people have been able to get their hands on a key through a Facebook promotion.
The game is currently being developed by S2 Games, the people behind Savage. No word on a release date, but pre-sale for the game has already started for beta members.
SEGA has announced that their Genesis classic Sonic & Knuckles will be heading to the Xbox Live Arcade on September 9th. Owners of previous Sonic classics will be happy to learn that the game will allow players to access the “Blue Sphere,” the Chaos Emerald level from Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Knuckles will also be a playable character in the first two of the series.
No word on pricing yet, but we’ll keep you updated.
The ESA (Entertainment Software Association) has long been fighting the piracy of video games and are getting increasingly concerned by its rate of growth. In fact, the association estimates in the month of December 2008th over 6.5 million gamers were illegally downloaded.
While the whole world is to be blamed, the ESA focused in on two countries, Italy and Spain, and have said that they make up for 17.1% of and 15.1% of the world’s video game piracy, respectively.
Despite waging a seemingly endless war, the ESA says they will continue to fight piracy.
It seems that Sony feels gamers in Australia take to the Blu-ray format more than the rest of the world as they have recently announced the PS3 Ultimate Blu-ray Movie Kit.
Just how ultimate this kit is, however, remains questionable considering it only comes bundled with a PS3 remote and either 10,000 B.C. or Batman Begins with no console in sight.
Of course, it’s $60 AUD/$51 USD price tag makes it a bargain, and that’s all that matters.
The PS3 Slim is one of the most highly sought after consoles on the market to date (argueable, I know, but it’s just been announced) which might make owners of the PS3 Fat feel a bit left out.
Well, lucky for you guys GameStop has recently announced a promotion that will give $150 credit to anyone who trades in a PS3 Fat towards the purchase of a PS3 Slim.
Then again, you can probably just slap your PS3 Fat on eBay and get much more than you would from GameStop, but it’s the laziness that counts, right?
