For the 10 of you out there that still play Grand Theft Auto 4 online (for the Xbox 360, mind you) you will be happy to hear that Rockstar will soon be releasing a patch that will prevent people from cheating online. Exactly what cheats, we don’t know, but this patch will apparently fix them.
Expect this patch to be pushed out in the coming days making GTA 4‘s multiplayer ready for the influx of players that are sure to hop online after purchasing the game’s newest expansion, The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Just a few days ago we let you know that Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time would officially be hitting store shelves on October 27th exclusively for the Playstation 3. Well, today, we bring you a cinematic trailer for the game that was recently showcased at this year’s PAX.
In terms of gameplay footage, don’t expect much, but if you’re looking for some plot hints and other story information, this video is for you.
Again, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time will be out for the Playstation 3 on October 27th, 2009.
Way back in 2005 when Microsoft first let the Xbox 360 loose they set a precedent that all games were required to run in a resolution of at least 720p. Well, if Black Rock Studios’ David Jefferies is to be believed (which he is), that is no longer the case.
Jefferies recently went on record to say that Microsoft has just recently given developers to go ahead to develop games that run below a 720p resolution. You’ll make note that we reported to you a while back that games like Halo 3: ODST and Modern Warfare 2 run at a resolution lower than 720p, although those developers most likely got special treatment considering the scale of both titles.
NASCAR fans will be disappointed to hear that EA Sports head honcho, Peter Moore, has recently let us know that the studio currently has no plans to develop a new NASCAR game. In fact, he has said that those who worked on previous NASCAR projects have been reassigned to different projects.
Below is a direct quote from Mr. Moore:
Unfortunately … we had to make some tough trade-offs. We’ve had to redeploy some of those folks. A number of the NASCAR team has moved over now to EA Sports MMA, which will be shipping next year. [We're] still a huge fan of NASCAR, but no plans right now to develop any further games for NASCAR from EA Sports.
Now make note that this doesn’t mean there will never be a new NASCAR game, just not one in the direct future.
Metroid Prime has always had a special place in the hearts of Nintendo fans, the two GameCube versions, Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes substantiated that place by not only being two of the best games on the console, but two of the best console shooters ever. The Wii version, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, was well received among critics and fans, albeit some lackluster sales — at least compared to Nintendo’s other properties.
Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii includes the two GameCube games and the third installment originally released on the Wii in 2007, all for $50. To make the deal even sweeter, it comes in a “collector’s edition” metal box and also includes an art book as well. However, Nintendo didn’t just put all the three games on a disc and shipped it off to retail, there’s plenty of additions and tweaks to the games, especially the GameCube ones, which now include Wiimote controls and full widescreen support. Just checking in? Here’s what you missed — Infinity Ward has today released a video showcasing Modern Warfare 2‘s Capture the Flag game mode. Furthermore, it was made known that the OnLive beta has begun giving gamers a chance to take a look at the service. And finally, Sony has announced that Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time will be hitting store shelves on October 27th.
Now we’re not sure how long the above video is going to be around for so if you’re looking to get in on the action, you better do it fast. But anyways, included in said video is over 8 minutes of leaked Halo 3: ODST footage. Of course, being campaign footage there will be a ton of spoilers so don’t say I didn’t warn you.
As for the rest of us who don’t like spoilers, well, we’re just going to have to wait until September 22nd when the game is officially released.
Sony has today been kind enough to let us know that the highly anticipated title, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time will be hitting store shelves exclusively for the Playstation 3 on October 27th, 2009.
Furthermore, Sony has also announced that those who pre-order the game at participating retailers will be rewarded with the below goodies:
‘Discovery Package’ – Explore the Insomniac Moon with a special level that resembles the layout of Insomniac Games’ studio offices. A fan favorite, the Moon is filled with content that didn’t quite make the final game, sort of like deleted scenes on DVDs. You can earn this unlockable on your own, but Insomniac certainly won’t make it easy for ya!
‘Power Package’ – Up your arsenal with an exclusive weapon skin for one of Ratchet’s weapons along with extra hit points and Ratchet’s brand new Cryo Mine Glove.
‘Bolt Package’ – Bolster your bolt count with 5,000 free bolts care of Ratchet’s most bolt-centric power-ups, the Bolt Magnetizer and Box Basher.
‘Space Package’ – Drift off into space with an exclusive hot rod skin for Ratchet’s ship, the Aphelion, along with 5,000 free bolts and an exclusive Ratchet & Clank PlayStation Home Avatar skin
The OnLive blog gives word that the beta is now underway. The on-demand gaming service was revealed at this year’s Game Developer’s Conference. It relies entirely on cloud computing to render the service.
“One of the key challenges that OnLive technology addresses is providing a high-quality, fast-response gaming experience over a wide range of situations: different speeds/locations/types of broadband services, a variety of different PC and Mac configurations, several kinds of input and display devices, etc.” said Steve Perlman, OnLive founder and CEO. “So, a major focus of OnLive Beta is to test as many of these different situations as we can.”
Sign-ups are actually still active, so anyone interested in getting in on the action can by submitting an application.
Square Enix has set a North American release date for their first World War II game Order of War, which will be September 22nd. The game is being developed exclusively for the PC. Two campaign modes, multiplayer, Deathmatch and Skirmish are included in Wargaming.net’s upcoming RTS.
A single-player demo for the game has been released recently, titled “Road to Paris”. It’s available on the official website.
I’m looking forward to Order of War; it will be interesting to see how the Japanese RPG giant will handle a World War II game.
