splintercellconviction

Back in July Ubisoft announced that Splinter Cell: Conviction would be getting its release date pushed from later this year to Q1 2010. However, despite saying Q1 2010 we had no idea exactly when we would be seeing the latest Splinter Cell hit store shelves. Lucky for us, Ubisoft has again come forth to speak of Splinter Cell: Conviction this time letting us know that the game will be released for the Xbox 360 and PC on February 23rd, 2010.

So folks, get ready because Sam Fisher’s back and this time he’s bad.

Arguably the biggest franchise on the Xbox 360, Microsoft and Bungee are back with another Halo game, this time however, without the familiar hero Master Chief. ODST was originally intended as a standalone expansion pack, but after adding a few new features, like Firefight, and changing its name, it’s been bumped up to a full-priced game. Does it justify a $60 retail price? Yes and no. Yes, if you’re a die hard Halo fan, no if you’re a die hard FPS fan — because your $60 are probably better spent on Modern Warfare 2, especially if you already own Halo 3, but that’s another discussion.

In ODST, you play as “Rookie”, a rookie soldier who’s dropping in for the first time with the Operation Drop Squad Troopers (ODST). However, things don’t go as planned and you find yourself alone, surrounded by enemies and must now fight your way through a city to reach your comrades. READ ON »

If you thought that the Halo franchise was no longer popular, you’d be wrong and we have proof! In just 24 hours since Halo 3: ODST has been on store shelves close to 1 million players have logged onto the game. Furthermore, more than 6 million games have been logged in this same time period ensuring ODST‘s popularity.

To put this into comparison, Halo 3 itself logged around 1.5 million players and around the same number of games during the same time slot. Now we’ll just have to wait a few days and see how these numbers fluctuate before we pass judgment but as of now Halo 3: ODST seems to be a hit.

If you want to see these numbers for yourself head over to Bungie.net where they have a widget proudly displaying said numbers.

Well it seems like us Flash game addicts aren’t the only ones who love the game as RedLynx has recently announced that Trials HD has sold over 300,000 digital copies through the Xbox Live Arcade.

This is an amazing feat as the game topped the big 300k after being on sale for just a month. I think it’s now safe to see we will be seeing several Trials HD sequels, don’t you think?

Rumors have been floating around for a few days now that suggest Microsoft was prepping to buyout EA whose stocks rose 4% after the rumor surfaced. This would be a major business decision for Microsoft considering EA’s massive scale and could work towards pushing Sony and Nintendo out of the game.

Well, unfortunately for you Microsoft fan boys out there this is nothing more than a rumor with no basis as Microsoft spokesperson David Dennis has told seattlepi:

“There is no truth to this rumor we have no plans to purchase EA.”

One sure way of hyping any consumer product is to make folks know there’s a shortage, whether it’s true or not. Sony Computer Entertainment America boss Jack Tretton told Reuters that there might be a shortage of PS3 slim consoles, if the sales continue the way they are now. “If things continue at this pace, it is conceivable that there will be product shortages,” Tretton said, after noting the console’s sales are up 300 percent over last year since its price was cut by $100. “We are up significantly versus last year”, he concluded. There’s no doubt that PS3 slim has been very popular, it has topped the charts in all three major territories, for the first time since its release in 2006.

Ferarri’s newest flagship car, the 458 Italia, which will be replacing the very successful F430, will find its way to Forza Motorsport in form of a DLC update. Since Ferrari revealed the car long after Forza 3 development wrapped up, it won’t make it in the release — the game has already gone gold.

However, developer Turn 10 is currently modeling the car, which will be released as a DLC after the game launches. There has been no announcement on a price, but you can certainly expect it not to be free. It was recently revealed that Gran Turismo 5 will also feature the new Ferrari car.
