GameStop director Leonard Riggio has sold 2.3 million of his GameStop shares, bringing him in over $60 million. As a result, his ownership of the retail giant decreased from 6.9 to 5.5 percent. Reggio is also a board member and the founder of the Barnes & Noble bookstore chain. The large sale isn’t worrying analysts, apparently, but last time Reggio sold shares, as Gamasutra points out, he did just before the stock went on a slump and decreased 60 percent in value. Makes one wonder.

The upcoming WoW movie, helmed by Spider-man director Sam Raimi, will be written by Robert Rodat, who wrote the excellent war drama Saving Private Ryan. However, since Ryan, Rodat (IMDB link) has only written one film in the last ten years, The Patriot. Seems like he’s looking to “get back in the game”. The WoW movie is set to go into production next year, with a 2011 release in mind.

Gearbox recently made headlines by criticizing Valve’s Steam for not only giving developers a bad deal, but also for being in a conflict of interest between Valve and its Steam content delivery platform. Now Tripwire — developers of the Red Orchestra series — boss John Gibson thinks otherwise, saying that the company wouldn’t exist without Steam. Gibson said, “…Is Valve exploiting independent developers? In short: absolutely not. Without pulling any punches, I can say with certainty that if it weren’t for Steam, there would be no Tripwire Interactive right now.”

Gibson goes on to further praise Steam contract, saying “the first one we had seen that didn’t have any land mines in it”. He did mention the conflict of interest, but noted that Valve does a good job handling it.

The NBA 2K series have pretty much been kicking NBA Live’s behind for the last few seasons, and rightfully so. The gameplay has always been better on the 2K series, the presentation and depth have likewise left NBA Live in the dust. But for the 2010 versions of the respective games, the stakes are higher, with both NBA 2K10 and NBA Live 10 having upped the ante. Today, we look at one of those, NBA 2K10, and without spoiling too much of the review, we can safely say that fans of the series will not be disappointed.

When booting up a game of 2K10, you’ll immediately notice that the gameplay has received a notch upwards, and that there are now a slew of new animations, all contributing to life-like, realistic players on the court. The player models themselves are the best the series has ever seen, as everything from clothes to skin, to facial animations have been rendered almost perfectly, besides one thing; the jerseys the players are wearing. Usually, they seem to “pop up”, as if resting on an invisible cushion on the player, giving them a very odd look. But overall, those are minor details. READ ON »

The above launch trailer for BioWare‘s Dragon Age: Origins has just hit the internet and boy does it make the game look good. Of course it doesn’t show any actual game play but the Lord of the Rings style cinematics really make me want to check this game out.

Despite being a launch trailer, we aren’t going to be able to get our hands on Dragon Age: Origins until November 3rd.
