cciphone

One of my all time favorite RTS franchises is none other than Command & Conquer. Couple this with the fact that the iPhone (and iPod touch) is quickly becoming one of the premiere hand held gaming devices and you have yourself a match made in heaven.

Later this month EA will be putting Command & Conquer Red Alert up for sale on ther App Store which includes 12 different levels and two different sides; the Soviets and the Allies.are they dow

If the above screenshot is anything to go by, this game is sure to be a hit.

DJ Hero‘s October 27th release date is quickly approaching so it would only make sense that Activision would let us in on the various pre-order bonuses you will recieve while purchasing the game at various retailers.

Below is the full list of pre-order bonuses you will recieve courtesy of Destructoid:

  • Amazon.com – Pre-order DJ Hero and DJ Hero Renegade Edition from Amazon.com and get a $5 credit towards the music tracks that inspired the music for the game
  • Best Buy – Pre-order DJ Hero from Best Buy and receive a free code that unlocks a Daft Punk level

left4dead2

News regarding Left 4 Dead 2 has been circulating for some time now and still new details are emerging. The latest set of details lets us know of a previously unannounced game mode enittled ‘Realism’ mode.

1Up asked marketing VP over at Valve, Doug Lombardi, about the peculiar mode who said ‘Realism’ mode is for players who can play the game better than the testers can.

What exactly does this mean? Well, Kotaku hypothesizes that perhaps it is a kind of head shot only mode where you can only kill the zombies with a shot to the head. You know, like in the movies.

Activision has closed Shaba Games, developers of Spider-man: Web of Shadows. Shaba Games was founded in 1997, and have developed titles like Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 for the PSP, Tony Hawk’s Project 8, and as mentioned, the latest Spider-man game. The studio was acquired by Activision in 2002, and has now ceased to exist, as all employees have been laid off. Recently, Activision cut back on the workforce of another studio under their ownership, eliminating 30 positions at 7 Studios.

When Crytek bought Free Radical, developers of Time Splitters and Haze, most expected the newly named Crytek UK studio to continue the Crysis franchise, however, according to studio boss Karl Hilton, they’re doing something completely different: an original FPS. There are no other details regarding the game, however, we’re pretty sure it’ll have at least a “Cry” in the title.

Never underestimate a franchise, goes the saying. It certainly rings true to Halo 3: ODST, which has now sold over 2.5 million units, Microsoft told USA Today. The game reached the impressive sales number during only the first two weeks of being released, which almost borders Halo 3′s release numbers. To date, the Halo franchise has sold over 27 million units, Microsoft revealed, and with the momentum ODST is experiencing, there’s a good possibility that it will be the game that breaks the 30 million barrier.

supersmashbrosbrawl

When I first purchased my Wii how ever long ago I bought it with one game on mind that I knew I had to have and that was none other than Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The entire franchise was a hit ever since its N64 debut in 1999 and with its Wii iteration, it only got better.

To further prove Super Smash Bros. Brawl‘s success, Kotaku has recently posted their monthly online Wii usage findings and the fighting title holds the top spot. Make note that due to technical difficulties Kotaku has yet to add last month into the study but upon seeing Brawl’s obvious dominance it leads one to believe that this month can’t be much different.

uncharted2amongthieves

During an interview with Eurogamer Justin Richmond, multiplayer designer over at Naughty Dog, spoke of future DLC we will be seeing for the highly anticipated Uncharted 2: Among  Thieves.

Below is a quote from Richmond giving us a hint at the DLC’s contents:

“What you’ll probably see is more of the competitive type: more maps, more modes, stuff like that. The co-op stuff is hugely time-intensive and the size of it – the physical download size – is huge, so that’s probably not an option.

Naughty Dog community head Arne Meyer adds:

“We definitely think of Uncharted as a franchise and we’d love to work on another one. But it’s really about what is fresh and what we want to do next.”

So in other words,  how well Uncharted 2: Among Thieves sells when it hits store shelves for the Playstation 3 on October 13th.

stupidfunclub

In early April we let you know that Will Wright, the guy behind The Sims, Spore and co-founder of Maxis, would be departing the studio he helped build to focus on his newest studio Stupid Fun Club. At the time we had no idea exactly what the studio would work on first and not much has changed since. Although today we now at least know that Stupid Fun Club is working on something.

Mr. Wright himself recently sat down with VentureBeat to let us know that Stupid Fun Club is working on three separate projects which could come to life in “six months to a year”. He elaborated by saying that these projects range from the internet to toys but didn’t say much further.

So, within the next 6-12 months we should be seeing more of Stupid Fun Club.

EA has dominated the soccer game scene for almost two decades now, and considering that FIFA 10 has already become the fastest selling sports game, according to EA, at least, one has great anticipation for a series that has seen little evolution over the past few years. Is FIFA 10 the one that’s gonna make the difference? That’s gonna reinvent the series? Short answer: yes. Longer answer, yes, definitely. Basically, it’s FIFA, and for once, it’s noticeably better than it’s predecessor.

FIFA 10 brings a slew of additions to the series, including a brand new “360 degree” player control feature, which means you can move your player in any direction, not just 8 as before, which astonishingly stuck with the franchise from before the analog sticks were introduced, which is now more than ten years ago. Finally, you can use the analog stick to move the player in any 360-degree direction. This means that the actions and movements of players are a lot more fluid and realistic, a huge leap over FIFA 09 (imagine how players used to zig-zag across the scree before?). Coupled with updated and increased amount of animations, it looks even better, almost as if you were watching a real match, if it wasn’t for the commentators and a few other nitpicks. READ ON »
