Geoff Keighley recently let us know via Twitter that a game based on the forthcoming TRON movie is set to be revealed at this year’s Video Game Awards which are set to go down December 12th at 8PM on Spike TV. Featured above is a short teaser trailer preparing us for the unveiling of said game but don’t get too excited as little to no actual footage is featured in said teaser.
Will this game be able to prove itself or will it just be another failed movie-to-game creation? Only time will tell.
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that Serious Sam HD just recently hit Steam on November 24th. Well, hot on the heel’s of the game’s release Croteam has come forth to announce that Serious Sam HD: The Next Encounter (an HD remake of the game with the same title minus HD) is in the works and will hit Steam in early 2010.
According to That Video Game Blog, the game will be released on both the PC and home consoles which means we may see it hit the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii, of course.
The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta has been available on the PS3 for some time now but thanks to its immense success, the PC beta will be getting delayed to early 2010, as we learned a few days ago.
In the words of BC2 producer Gordon Van Dyke:
“With the huge success of the the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta’s capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate. Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations.”
Just what optimizations, you ask? Below is a list of features exclusive to the PC Beta of Battlefield: Bad Company 2:

U.K. magazine PC Zone, usually a trusted source when it comes to rumors, has “confirmed” that the upcoming Splinter Cell Conviction will feature co-op multiplayer, where two players will have the ability to play through the single player campaign together. According to rumors, the next issue of the magazine will also reveal a brand new multiplayer mode, still too secret for anyone to know. We’ll see, the next issue of PC Player is out in January.
Square Enix, the new owners of Eidos and the very successful Thief IP, have something to look forward to, apparently. Eidos Montreal producer Stephane D’Astous said about the game currently in development: “the team is making leaps and bounds. Personally I have never seen a team, at this milestone (middle of pre-production) in such good shape!”. Which is great, obviously, but we’re wondering how come they’re still in the “middle” of pre-production — the game was announced well over six months ago.
Borderlands surprised everyone with its visuals, non-stop action and tons of guns, and if you enjoyed the game (or still enjoying it), the DLC “The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned” is definitely not going to disappoint you. It’s jam packed with more mindless action and is available now for $10.
The Halloween themed 1GB DLC –a bit late, we know, Halloween’s over — centers around Dr. Ned and his island of Zombies (as the title of the DLC perfectly indicates), whom he accidentally unleashed on the town and island. The story is quite well told and has more to offer than just a bunch of new levels, it’s quite comical as well, and probably has some of the best dialogue and set ups in the entire game, not to mention hilarious one-liners. A feature long overdue for the cute LittleBigPlanet has finally arrived: the ability to create levels in co-op, online. It’s always been possible for four players to do it offline on the same console, but that feature wasn’t available for online gamers — and it was clearly a very wanted feature, as the co-op level creator has always been a blast. The feature was originally supposed to be released last year, but development delays meant that LBP players had to wait a while. A whole year.
Puzzle Quest, the endlessly addictive puzzle game which has been released on everything from DS and PSP, to PC and countless mobile phones, is finally receiving a proper sequel, developer Infinite Interactive revealed in the upcoming issue of GamePro. Not many details have leaked, so we’ll have to wait until the full issue of GamePro is out.
Ubisoft, developers of the upcoming 3D game Avatar, based on the movie of the same name, is saying that 3D is here to stay, where company executive Yannis Mallat said:
“3D is to pictures what Dolby Stereo was to sound. No one wants to go back to mono.”
Both the game and the movie Avatar will be in 3D, however, we’ll have to wait and see if it’s worth all the buzz. The movie opens late December, and the game will be released on Dec 1.
