Thief 4 development going well

Square Enix, the new owners of Eidos and the very successful Thief IP, have something to look forward to, apparently. Eidos Montreal producer Stephane D’Astous said about the game currently in development: “the team is making leaps and bounds. Personally I have never seen a team, at this milestone (middle of pre-production) in such good shape!”. Which is great, obviously, but we’re wondering how come they’re still in the “middle” of pre-production — the game was announced well over six months ago.
