Tony Hawk Ride, the skateboarding game posed as a resurrection of the series, complete with an actual skateboard peripheral, has seen somewhat disappointing sales since it was released on November 17. The game has sold just under 116,000 units, 67,000 on the Wii, 30,000 on the Xbox 360 and 16,000 on the PS3, according to NPD. The price of the game — $120 — also has a great impact on sales, naturally.

The biggest reason for this seems the board which comes with the game, which isn’t accurate nor responsive enough for a game like skating, which requires lots of accuracy and responsiveness. Our own review confirms this, which will be published later today.

Strap a “Halo” name on something and it’s likely that it’ll do pretty well, and Microsoft is confident that Halo Reach will be the biggest game of 2010, at least according to Microsoft’s product management director Aaron Greenberg, who also finds the time to diss Gran Tursimo 5 a bit:

“Is it launching next year? I’ve seen years and years of minigames, but I haven’t seen that the game’s done. They just released the PSP version — maybe that’s what they’ve been working on.”

Halo Reach will have plenty of competition, as StarCraft 2, God of War 3, Rage, Alan Wake, Heavy Rain, Bad Company 2 and a ton of other anticipated games will be released in 2010.

After a few days of teasing, Valve has started revealing the next TF2 update, the same way they revealed all the other updates: with a twist of Valve humor.

The new update, called “War“, focuses on the Soldier and Demoman, and pits them up against each other. In addition to 3 new unlocks each class will get, a fourth unlock will be given to who ever has more kills, meaning that for the next few days, a lot of Demomen and Soldiers will be going at it.

The previous Zelda game on the DS, Phantom Hourglass, was one of the great RPGs, not to mention Zelda games the system had to offer, and many got a DS simply because of that particular game. It didn’t only offer unparalleled gameplay, but it was also by far the best looking game on the system as well. It’s been two years since Phantom Hourglass, and Zelda fans have been waiting with great expectation for Link’s next appearance on the console. We can safely say that the wait has been worthwhile: Spirit Tracks not only takes the series in a new direction, but it does it in class and style.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is set a hundred years after Phantom Hourglass, and this time, Link has abandoned his boat and instead rides a train. But besides the new form of transport, Spirit Tracks is remarkably like Phantom Hourglass, from looks (which are a bit better), to gameplay and controls, everything feels familiar, which is a good thing, because the previous game pretty much nailed it on the DS. You’ll move Link across vast landscapes by drawing a route for the train with the stylus, the same way you drew routes for the boat in Phantom Hourglass. And you’ll be doing a lot of train riding — more than you should, actually, as several hours of the 25 hour long campaign (including side quests) will be spent on the train. But that’s expected, it was the same deal with the boat in Phantom Hourglass. But it doesn’t mean it should be that way. Read the rest of the review

socomconfrontation

With so many game developers charging for DLC it’s like a breath of fresh air when a studio like Slant Six Games comes forward and releases free DLC for a game like SOCOM: Confrontation. That’s right, version 1.60 is now available to download via the Playstation Network for free and adds a whole slew of new content and updates.

Below is a list of updates courtesy of the Playstation Blog:

New Special Forces – The Dutch KCT and Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces teams are featured in this update. Each Force is provided with two new heads, a new voice and light, medium and heavy variants of their own torsos and legs (each with a unique camouflage pattern).

New Weapons – Two new primary weapons will be immediately accessible to players who select to play as the new Special Forces. The Dutch KCT will have access to the 417 assault rifle, while the Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces will receive the SPAS 15 shotgun. Additionally, four new weapons will be made available to players regardless of assigned Special Force. New weapons include the 9mm Sub Machine Gun, M82A1A, AK-74 and SR-25.

Weapon Updates
– A number of weapon updates and adjustments to existing weapons have been included in the patch. Below is an overview of the updates and adjustments that have been made:

  • M87ELR is given .50 cal rounds to balance it against the Mercenaries’ M82A1A.
  • Shotguns are balanced to do less damage at long range but more damage at close range.
  • Grenade launchers and rocket launchers have less delay in between shots.
  • Front End weapons values are updated to reflect the new Cold Front DLC Pack weapons.

In addition to the new characters and weapons, the team has also added 100% Random Medleys to the patch update.

So, SOCOM fans, what are you waiting for? Go get it!

cssource

I don’t know about you guys but the game that really got me into first person shooters was the original Counter-Strike. At the time, there was no Steam so you actually had to go into a store and buy the game. Crazy, I know. Now a days, the game has evolved and Counter-Strike: Source is the latest version. Sure, it may not have exactly the same feel as 1.6 but it is a good game that any diehard FPS fan should check out if they haven’t already.

As a matter of fact, now is the perfect time to check out the game as Valve has just announced that it will be part of this weekends Steam Weekend Deal dropping the price down to just $5.

I mean come on, $5 for such a great game, do you really have any reason not to buy it?

playstationmotioncontroller

EA‘s CEO was recently quoted to have said that the Playstation Motion Controller would officially be called the ‘Gem’ which brought about a lot of speculation over whether or not Sony would actually go along with the name.

However, Sony has stepped forward to let us know that Gem was nothing more than an “early code name for the product” and won’t be the actual retail name.

So, we’re back to just using the generic, boring name Playstation Motion Controller.

tekken6fightstick

Normally, Tekken 6 with the wireless fight stick is $150, a steep price that is hard to justify for a game with a fancy controller (unless you’re a hardcore fan, that is). Luckily, with the holidays just around the corner, Amazon.com has gone ahead and dropped the price (for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 version) from $150 to $77.99 a saving of right around $72.

Make note that Tekken 6 itself retails for $60, just like any other game, so you’re getting the Hori manufactured fight stick for under $20. Now that sound’s like a deal to me.
