Retro gamers (who happen to own an iPhone/iPod touch) rejoice! Namco Bandai has just let us know that Pac-Man Championship Edition has just been put up on the App Store for $2.99.
Included in Pac-Man Championship Edition is a timed Championship Mode with 5 coures (10 more available through DLC) and a Mission Mode with 20 missions (100 more through DLC). I don’t even need to say anything about the gameplay as if you don’t know what Pac-Man is like, you probably aren’t even reading this.
If you’re looking to pick this up you better do so fast as the $2.99 price point is just an introductory sale.

Splinter Cell: Conviction‘s February 23rd release date is quickly approaching which raised questions about a possible demo for the game. Well, nothing was said for a while until HipHopGamer sat down with a developer and asked him that exact question to which they responded:
“It’s coming out in January… And then the actual game – February 23rd.”
Yup, that’s all we have to go by no details on the contents of the demo, whether it will include multiplayer, nothin’. Then again, January is next month so we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
The hardware powering today’s home consoles have gotten progressively more powerful with every passing generation. However, with the introduction of the Nintendo Wii’s controller, causing the console to sell like hot cakes, it was made obvious that raw power isn’t the only thing that will sell consoles.
One area that Sony, nor Microsoft, nor Nintendo has yet to capitalize on is 3D gaming. Now of course you can argue that there is a miniscule amount of 3D ready TVs on the market and even less in homes but according to a study by Insight Media, that may change in the near future.
That test was called the Stereoscopic 3D Gaming Report that says by 2014 over 40 million 3D ready televisions will be in homes which leads you to ponder which of the big 3 console manufacturers will be the first to stick their toe in this exciting new market.

The DS has sold a gazillion units worldwide — actually, 114 million, but who’s counting anyways — and it has reached a new milestone in the UK, as the handheld console surpassed the 10 million mark. This makes the DS the best selling console in the region of all time, taking the throne previously held by the PlayStation 2. The sales data also reveals that the Wii has surpassed 6 million units sold in the region.
Mega Man 9 was released on Wii’s virtual distribution platform, WiiWare, a while ago and has been a huge success. Now NintendoPower can confirm that Mega Man 10 will find its way to WiiWare as well. According to the article in the upcoming issue of the magazine, Mega Man 10 will include an “easy” mode as well, for those who found Mega Man 9 to be to tough — it should be tough, if you ask us.
Anyways, no word on a release date, but a good bet would be early next year.
Aspyr Media, the company mostly known for porting PC games to Mac, are rumored to be facing massive layoffs. According to BigDownload, 50% of the workforce has already been let go. The Texas based publisher/developer began in 1996 by making games for Mac, and has since expanded to PC and consoles as well.

The first Borderlands DLC, “The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned” (read our review of the DLC here), has been released for the PC as well, and can be acquired on platforms like Steam, and on Gearbox own website. The DLC keeps the same $10 price as the console versions.

According to EA boss John Riccitiello, who spoke at UBS 37th Annual Global Media Conference in New York City earlier today, let it slip that Sony’s new motion controller would be named “Gem”. He said,
“In the coming year, both Sony and Microsoft have announced new controllers. Motion sensor controls, Natal and Gem, these are likely to bring new consumers into the marketplace”
Sony has yet to confirm of deny it, but it seems that if anyone would know what the new controller would be named, other than Sony, it would be a guy like John Riccitiello.

GSC Gameworld, the Ukrainian developers of the STALKER series and publisher bitComposer Games, have confirmed that the game will hit the store shelves in February 2010 worldwide. The game is already available in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and a few eastern European countries as well.

Despite having told us that a fix for the Xbox 360 version of Fight Night Round 4‘s DLC Champions Pack 2 would be made available sometime before Christmas, EA Sports community manager sk88z has let us know that it won’t be coming until January.
Below is sk88z’s message board post explaining the delay:
“With the community’s help, we have also encountered a major issue around the ability to manipulate boxer stats and use them as an unfair advantage. Along with the fix to address the freeze in ‘Champions Pack 2′, we will also be addressing this issue in an upcoming update for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.”
Additionally, he stated that those caught using the above mentioned glitch will risk having their account being banned from EA Sports Online entirely. Worth it? Probably not.
