China’s arguably biggest Internet population in the world results in a huge MMO crowd as well. Despite Internet censorship and crackdowns on MMO games, the revenues from online gaming is said to top $11 billion by 2012, according to a report from research firm Analysys. The report suggests that revenues this year will reach $3.8 billion this year, with an MMO penetration of 27 percent of the Internet users.
Remedy has release a new short, and sweet Alan Wake trailer, showcasing some action and combat, as well as really sweet visuals. The game is scheduled for release next year, March-time.
Havok, makers of physics software using in many games (like Half Life 2 and Gears of War), has announced that they’ll start offering discounts to indie developers looking to use their physics software.
The deal will feature all of Havok’s software in one bundle, which includes Havok Physics, Havok AI and Havok Cloth, and will be offered on a year-based agreement, instead of licensing the software outright.
That’s the game — not the infamous Japanese organized crime gang — that’s coming to North America and Europe in March 2010. The SEGA published game is already available in Japan, under the name Ryu ga Gotoku. Yakuza 3 for the rest of the world will maintain the Japanese dialogue, and will be subtitled instead.
As for the gang, well, we’re pretty sure they’re already in North America and Europe.
New Super Mario Bros Wii has been received overwhelmingly well in Japan; the game sold a massive 900,000 copies during its first week, making it the best selling game in a week in Japan.
The game beats the previous top seller, which was Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which sold 800,000 copies, followed by yet another Mario game, Mario Kart Wii, which sold 600,000 units.
Geoff Keighley recently took center stage during a recent Major Nelson podcast to let us know that the first trailer featuring in-game footage of Halo: Reach will make its debut during the Spike VGAs this weekend.
During the podcast, Kieghley had this to say about the game:
“I think it’s going to be the biggest game of next year by far. Folks loved ODST and thought it was great, but when people see the huge leap forward Bungie’s taking with Reach… Everyone I’ve talked to that’s been on the team and seen it is incredibly excited about that game.”
I don’t know about you guys but I’ve been a fan of the Halo series since the original game almost entirely because of its multiplayer. If Halo: Reach takes what was done well in the first 3 games and expands on it, Bungie is sure to have another hit on their hands.
Usually, you can’t really beat an MMORPG. Sure, you can complete all the quests, get the best gear and so on but there isn’t really an ending, per say. However, it seems that a Taiwanese man with a character that goes by the name of Little Gray has claimed to be the first person to ever complete World of Warcraft.
This means he has completed all 986 achievements, killed 390,895 cereatures, racked up 7,255,538,878 damage points, completed 5,906 quests and raided 405 dungeons.
Now if only we know how many days/months he put into the game, that’d give us a real kick.
A few days ago we let you know that the Modern Warfare 2 1.05 patch was now available for download on the PS3. Today, we have news from Robert Bowling himself that the version 1.06 patch is currently getting certified for release by Microsoft and Sony and be out soon thereafter.
The 1.06 patch fixes things like the javelin glitch, unlimited care package glitch and the ability to exploit geographical locations such as the rocks in Afghan.
When exactly we will see the patch hit is up to Microsoft and Sony but lets hope it’s soon because if I get killed by one more javelin glitch…
Modern Warfare 2 made its way onto store shelves just under a month ago but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still selling like hotcakes. In fact, despite seeing a 7% drop in sales from the prior week, Activision’s Modern Warfare 2 is still the number one selling game in the UK, a spot it has held since its release nearly 4 weeks .
This means that the game has outsold hit titles such as FIFA 10 and Assassin’s Creed 2 but with the holidays just around the corner, will that all change?
