Around the same time the PSPgo was announced, Sony unveiled PSP minis, bite sized low cost games similar to those founds on the iPhone’s App Store. As you can probably tell from its name, these games are only available for play on the PSP but if recent rumors are to be believed, that all may change in the near future.
According to Pocket Gamer, the PSP minis will be coming to the PS3 which means you will be able to play the portable games on the console at a higher resolution.
When exactly will this happen? Well, the same reports suggest sometime before Christmas which is currently only a few weeks away so Sony better get a move on if this rumor is true.
The whole world, Australian gamers in particular, know that the Classification Operations Board of Australia is none too keen on letting fun overly violent games pass through their radar undetected. Unfortunately for you Australia AVP fans, the board’s latest victim is Sega‘s soon-to-be-released Aliens vs. Predator which got banned due to violent content.
Luckily, Sega Australia hopes to remedy this road block by either resubmitting the game with the violent content tuned down a notch or two or appealing the initial banning.
Will they succeed? Let’s hope so but as for us American folk well we’ll still be getting the game in February of next year.
Star Trek fans rejoice! Cryptic Studios has just released the above trailer for Star Trek Online and what does it include? Well, a bunch of fancy space ships shooting blowing each other up, what else?
Yes, featured in said trailer is a bunch of explosion laden intergalactic game play that you can except from Star Trek Online when it hits shelves for the PC on February 2, 2010.
With the game industry growing bigger and bigger comes the increased opportunity for game studios to make money. I mean just look at Activision with Guitar Hero, how many titles are there again?
However, despite these increased opportunities studios like Take-Two aren’t willing to turn a premiere franchise such as Grand Theft Auto into crapware and release a new title every year. In fact, if Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick has any say in it (which he does) that will never happen because he feels “triple-A” games such as Grand Theft Auto require a lot of time to properly develop and deliver to the masses. In fact, he is satisfied with just testing out new formats and platforms such as DLC for GTA 4 and the Nintendo DS and PSP with Chinatown Wars.
What’s next for Take-Two and Grand Theft Auto? Well, let’s hope the company sticks by Zelnick’s words and gives us a quality GTA V regardless of when it comes out.
Those that have been following Capcom‘s Dark Void will be happy to hear that a recent trailer has been posted to the internet for all to see (included above).
This trailer does a great job showcasing the visuals in the game complete with some gameplay footage but focuses mainly on showing gamers what the title’s environment is to look like. And I must say, it looks quite beautiful.
You’ll be able to pick up Dark Void when it hits shelves on January 22nd, 2010 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Sure, the story line of the Max Payne series was engaging but the real thing it is remembered for is its use of Bullet Time. I mean, what’s cooler than playing as a corrupt cop who is able to slow down time like Neo from The Matrix?
Those who share the same views as me are most likely discouraged that we haven’t seen a Max Payne title since 2003 but with the announcement of Max Payne 3, fans again had something to get excited about. Unfortunately, Take-Two has today announced that they will be pushing back Max Payne 3 from Winter 2009 to Q4 2010.
Exactly why they are pushing the game back, we don’t know, but delays = more development time so we’re all for it.

Have you picked up Borderlands yet? If you have, you’ve heard of Gearbox Software considering they are the masterminds behind the critically acclaimed game.
But that’s not what matters, what matters is that the studio is hiring for “all kinds of stuff, including a super secret project”. A super secret project you say? What possibly can this mean? I guess we’ll have to wait until further announcements are made to find out, which we’ll be sure to let you know of.
Below is the tweet that let us in on employment opportunity including a link to find out more info:

Cobra Command puts you in the cockpit of a helicopter as you fly above various locations gunning down other vehicles. All of this fun and excitment can be yours for just $4.99 anytime you decide your iPhone isn’t cool enough without such a cool game.
What’s one thing you’ve always wanted your Xbox Live Avatar to have? A purpose? Yeah, me too. But honestly, Microsoft has just announced that they will now be allowing your Avatars to purchase a virtual pet which will then accompany them.
Just what kind of pets you ask? Well how about Large Dog, Pug Dog, Dog in Bag, Cat, Siamese Cat, Long Haired Cat, Goldfish, Guinea Pig, Monkey, Bird or Pony? Of course, to buy any of said animals you’re going to have to shell out 240 Microsoft Points or $3.
For those of you wondering exactly when will this exciting (/sarcasm) new feature will hit Xbox Live, it’s tomorrow.
