A lot of folks were disappointed when 3D Realms shut down earlier this year and canned Duke Nukem Forever. The aftermath saw a lawsuit filed against #RD from Take-Two, and 3DR sued back. However, that’s just a tiny scratch on the surface when it comes to 3RD and DNF.
Wired Magazine has an amazing in-depth article about the rise and fall of 3D Realms, and what happened during the 12+ years of development that Duke Nukem Forever endured.
Check it out here.
Epic has revealed a version of Unreal Engine 3 which runs on the iPhone and iPod Touch, although, obviously it’s stripped of many of the bells and whistles the real UE3 engine includes. Still, it looks rather great on the handheld device, as you can see above. The engine will only run on new “3GS” iPhone models and third-gen iPod touch models. No info if/when the engine will be licensed to developers.

Japanese tool firm Shinibii has released a toolkit which greatly improves your ability to disassemble your console — and lose your warranty. The 10-piece toolkit includes everything you need to take a peek under the hood, and retails for only $32. Of course, getting your warranty back is gonna cost a lot more than that.

Steam has run lots of holiday sales over the years, but this one probably tops them all. In fact, it does top them all! Just take a glance at the titles and their prices below:

Well here’s another reason parents are going to have to keep their kids from gaming — It seems a (presumably very desperate) 27-year old man hooked up with a 15-year-old girl he met over Xbox Live after driving over 30 hours to from Missouri to Central California.
The punishment? 10 hears in the pig pen, of course.

I remember the first time I ever remember encountering bots that were actually fun to play with was in Perfect Dark for the N64. Technology has progressed a lot since then and lets hope Valve has successfully implemented with their AI-controlled bots they are planning to incorporate into Team Fortress 2.
Thankfully, they have given those brave enough to try them out the ability to test them on their own servers. All you need to do is follow the below instructions:
- To add bots to your game, use the console command tf_bot_add. This will drop a random bot onto a random team (assuming there is a free player slot). The tf_bot_add command can also take up to three optional arguments: , , and , in any order. For example, tf_bot_add 10 will add 10 random bots to the game with auto-assigned teams. Typing tf_bot_add pyro blue will add a Pyro to the blue team. Entering tf_bot_add red 5 will add 5 random bots to the red team. The command tf_bot_add red 3 heavyweapons will add three heavies to the red team.
- In order to put specific bots on specific teams (for a bots-vs-humans game, for example), you may want to disable automatic team balancing. To do this, enter mp_autoteambalance 0 followed by mp_teams_unbalance_limit 0.
- To remove a bot, use the console command kick . To remove all of the bots in the game, use the command tf_bot_kick all.
And that’s it. Let us know what you think of these bots in the comments.

It seems that Microsoft has recently filed a new patent for Avatars that will be physically . This means that if this technology were to make it to the market you would be able to automaically have an Avatar generated for you based on your your health and other things.
A cool idea? Certainly, but will Microsoft ever be able to actually get this thing out to the public? Well, that remains to be seen.

Not too long ago an advertisement from Accesories4Gamers hinted us at the PSP-4000 but with no official confirmation from Sony we had no idea if it was just a typo or the announcement of a product early. But with the recent release of the PSP Go is it possible that Sony would already have another portable console already?
Well, perhaps the lack of a UMD drive in the PSP Go drove away enough potential buyers that Sony had to quickly develop a beefed up PSP with a UMD drive? Would have been nice but unfortunately the advertisement company responsible for the ad came forth and said “it was a mistake on our part”.
So, it looks like we won’t be seeing a new PSP, until Sony makes an announcement, of course.

According to Kotaku, Heavy Iron Studios, developers behind Wall-E, UP and a few other movie based games, is rumored to be shedding upwards of 50% of its employees.
The Los Angeles based studio was formerly owned by THQ, before going independent. It’s reported that half of the studio’s 120 employees will be let go this week, which is especially thought considering it’s Christmas.
The studio was formed in 1999 and has developed a total of 10 games. The studio was a wholly-owned subsidiary of THQ, until the publisher spun it off in May 2009 in a cost-cutting move.
It is unknown what title(s) the developer currently is working on, as they haven’t announced anything new in over a year.
