Holy headcrabs, batman! According to the next issue of GameInformer, Valve has no plans of releasing Half Life 2 Episode 3 this year, and what’s worse, it might never arrive at all, and might just be replaced with Half Life 3.

First of all, development on Episode 3 has been going on for at least a few years, not releasing it this year would be plain insane. Also, there’s no way Half Life 3 would replace it, as the story hasn’t been completed after Episode 2, and if it was HL3, Valve would most certainly need to introduce a new game engine as well.

djhero

The first time I got wind of DJ Hero I, just like many others, thought it was pretty ridiculous. I mean, Guitar Hero itself is a bit gimmicky (despite making millions) but a turn table peripheral? It just didn’t seem like it would catch on.

However, despite this, Activision CEO, Bobby Kotick has stepped forward to tell us the following:

“I think DJ Hero is a really innovative product. I can’t wait for you to see next year’s. That’s the thing; we’re sticking with it. We’ll stick with it and get it right. But it’s going to be less games, better games. That’s our strategy.”

So does this mean we won’t see a million different Guitar Hero titles launched every year? Let’s hope so.

After disappointing sales on the DS and PSP, Rockstar has released Chinatown Wars on the iPhone, in hopes that it might receive some better success. Despite decent reviews, the game sold less than 100,000 copies on the DS and PSP, but hopefully the $10 price tag on the iPhone version will improve that considerably.

Ouch! According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, who spoke to investors addressing poor Avatar game sales a conference call, also noted that the company now expects Red Steel 2 sales to be half of the original estimate from a million units to just half of that. He gave no specific reason as to why, but one can assume the economic downturn has something to do with it, or perhaps, the quality of Red Steel 2 isn’t what was expected. Whatever it is, the game is out on March 23.

It appears that the fallen MMO Hellgate: London has been resurrected. Publisher HanbitSoft has acquired rights to the game and reportedly plans on introducing a free MMO under the title Hellgate: Resurrection (a title which was also used for the game in Korea). HanbitSoft already operates the game in Korea to much success, and therefore plans on introducing the game to the rest of the world. Hellgate: London was a critical and commercial disaster, and servers for the game were shut down last year.

Some good news are in for upcoming Mass Effect 2 owners: the game will have a free DLC on release date, according to a BioWare tweet.

Addressing rumors: BioWare will not be charging extra for any new Mass Effect 2 content on launch day. More DLC details next week.

This is most likely content that didn’t make it in the final game due to time constrains, or perhaps it was DLC that was planned to cost something, but then went free, for whatever reason. Either way, we’re sure glad there most Mass Effect 2 content on release.

BioShock 2 developer Ken Hudson said in an interview that BioShock 2 is definitely getting DLC, in fact, his own words were:

“We are working on pretty aggressive plans for DLC and that’s actually something that is already under-way.

“Aggressive” sounds like we’ll see at least two different DLCs. BioShock 2 will be release in late-Febrary on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
