Simple. Gory. Fast paced. Fun. Those were the ingredients of Serious Sam when it was released a good 8 year ago, and it brought back old memories of Quake and Doom. Today though, first person shooters are a lot more complicated and realistic, but luckily, there’s something in store for those just looking for some fun.

Serious Sam HD is the same game as was released years ago, now though, it features HD visuals, and while they’re not gonna stack up against Crysis and Gears of War, they’re still good enough for you to want to revive the Serious Sam shooter. The gameplay is still just as fast, gory and over the top as before, and the improved visuals only make it better. However, on the audio side, there are noticeable shortcomings, the biggest of them is the fact that the game still features the sounds samples from the old game, which sound quite crappy today. It seems like 2010 is starting off with a ton of rumors coming from every direction, and now, according to Games Thirst, who apparently have the upcoming issue of the official PlayStation Magazine, Sony will be unveiling Killzone 3 at E3 2010. But that’s not all, Sony will apparently unveil Infamous 2 and Resistance 3 as well. Yeah, we know, it’s a long shot, but there’s no doubt that sequels for all those games are planned.

Darksiders is one of the more original titles to hit the consoles this year, and even so early this year. Not exactly set in a post-apocalyptic world, but rather, a world where the apocalypse is actually happening, Darksiders seems like a sci-fi/dark version of The Legend of Zelda, fused with some combat from Bayonetta and God of War. But despite the mix of different styles, it’s a surprisingly good game.

The story is set during the apocalypse of the world, where you play as one of the four horsemen and your quest is basically to maintain the balance between heaven and hell, but when your character finds out that he supposedly disrupted what he was set to protect, he’s sent down to Earth to set things straight. Yeah, we know, it’s a weird story and is also by far the worst aspect of the game. Nothing is really connected and everything is quite predictable. Read the rest of the Darksiders review
