A few years ago, wives and family of EA developers complained about the horrible working conditions of the developers, and now it seems that wives of Rockstar San Diego developers have rallied in efforts for better working conditions for the employees. A former Rockstar dev said:
“This is EXACTLY the reason I left Rockstar San Diego in February 2009. There were extended core hours, frustrations rising, and then a false promise of the dropping of mandatory Saturdays, which seemed to last for about three such Saturdays.”

Well folks, it’s now 2010 and you know what that means, Project Natal will soon be on store shelves. I don’t know about you guys, but one of the games I’m looking forward to most that is said to feature compatibility with the technology is Fable III. Thus far, we haven’t seen anything of the game but that may all change soon enough.
According to Lion Head’s Sam Van Tilburgh, we will be seeing the first footage of the game next month during a currently unannounced event.
Now a days, Guitar Hero is pretty much a household name, if you find a home console with some kids in the house chances are a plastic guitar won’t be far. And, if you’ve followed the franchise you’ll know that the peripherals are manufactured by Red Octane but that wasn’t always so. In the beginning MadCatz was signed on to do the deed before pulling out.
What’s even worse, MadCatz actually paid $300,000 to get out of the contract only to go on and see the series generate millions of dollars worth of revenue.
Oh well, at least they have a million different FightSticks coming out, right?
While getting boring after a while, Mirror’s Edge was extremely fun the first time I picked it up and for some time after. It’s free running like gameplay made for some pretty entertaining runs. If you share the same opinion as me you’ll be happy to hear that there has been an iPhone Mirror’s Edge title in the works for some time now.
And, while previously scheduled for a January 2010 release, the developers have pushed it to the much more usual “early 2010″ release window. So, when exactly this means we haven’t a clue but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as its made available.
Activision’s Call of Duty franchise has pretty much ruled the FPS scene for the past few years, and while EA had something decent in Bad Company, EA boss Jens Uwe said that Bad Company 2 will be the “first strong attack” on the Call of Duty franchise.
EA also plans on taking a swing at CoD with a Medal of Honor reboot, which, interestingly enough, looks a lot like Modern Warfare.
Yep, finally, and officially, the much anticipated Heavy Rain has gotten a release date, and will be landing on February 25 on the PlayStation 3. Mark your calendar. Or get a pre-order, or something, because it looks like Heavy Rain will truly be a remarkable experience.
At CES, Nvidia revealed a bunch of new technologies, and, quite surprisingly, revealed that the next-gen graphics chip, GF100, is in volume production right now.
However, Nvidia didn’t want to give a release date, and considering that the chip has been rumored for a March release, volume production this early is a bit strange — at least, it’s very early.
DICE have announced that the PC beta of Bad Company 2 will run from January 28th to February 25th, and will be offered to a wide selection of gamers, especially those who have pre-ordered the game. The single map will be Port Valdez, a show map with up to 32 players in infantry and vehicles, and only the “Rush” game mode will be supported. Furthermore, it looks like the anti-cheat system will once again be PunkBuster, which, if you played BF2, isn’t exactly known to be stopping many cheats.
In order to cut costs on the device, Microsoft has dropped the internal CPU of Natal, instead relied on software to render the motion and sensor movement on the Xbox 360 CPU. This is quite problematic, as, according to Microsoft themselves, consumes 10-15 percent of the CPU power of the Xbox 360. Meaning, if a game uses close to 100% of the CPU, don’t expect it to have Natal integration. And Microsoft doesn’t either, as they’d rather see new games being developed for the system than updates of current games to take advantage of the motion controls.
The new Battlefield Bad Company 2 multiplayer trailer doesn’t look all that realistic when it comes to team combat and gameplay, although the visuals are pretty sweet.
