In a press release which followed up on Microsoft’s CES keynote, the company promises to deliver Natal, its motion controller/camera eye to the market for the Holiday Season 2010, the usual busy time for games and where all the great stuff happens. However, they still mention “Natal” as a codename, and not the official name of the controller. Hopefully we’ll have that at E3.

At CES, which is well underway in Las Vegas these days, Microsoft shared some numbers on the Xbox 360, revealing that the console has sold 39 million units world wide, and there are over 20 million Xbox Live users online. Microsoft also revealed that nearly 10 million users have logged into “non-gaming” parts of Xbox Live, like Twitter, Facebook etc. Furthermore, Microsoft revealed that over 500 million games have been sold for the console, and impressive feat indeed.

Nyko is known for making a ton of different accessories for consoles — heck, it’s the only thing they’re known for. But their “Wii Wand” is a Wiimote knockoff with an interesting addition: it’s got the Wii MotionPlus build right into it, and for $40, it’s cheaper than getting an original Wiimote + MotionPlus attachment.

It’s been rumored that Call of Duty 7 will be released during the 2010 holiday season, but if we know Activison well, and we think we do, there will definitely be a new Call of Duty game this holiday season. Furthermore, it’s rumored that the game will be set in Vietnam. Yep, ‘nam!

Polyphony Digital is slowly gearing up fr the biggest racing game release of the year; Gran Turismo 5, and they’ve unveiled the box art for the game. It features none other than the brand new Mercedes SLS AMG supercar, set to debut later this year.
Take the very successful Guitar Hero franchise and offer fans small versions which focus on only one band, and you got something which could either be very good, or very bad. Whit Guitar Hero Metallica, it was mostly good, but in the case of Guitar Hero: Van Halen, it’s very bad. Actually, it’s a total mess. Just like old bands that reunited one last time for the sake of money, this game should never have been made.
In Guitar Hero: Van Halen, you follow the group through their tour, playing at different venues, from small to big, and the game is packed with 25 Van Halen tracks, 3 signature Eddie Van Halen guitar solos, and 19 guest acts — which are nothing but crappy impressions done by other bands. And guess what? It caries a full price. $60 for something which should, at best, have been a DLC add-on to Guitar Hero 5. Read the rest of the review

A few days ago we learned that Sega wasn’t exactly the biggest fan of hardcore mature rated Wii titles and now it seems another studio is backing out of the game: Capcom. Why? Poor game sales.
Not too long ago Capcom was one of the premiere supports of hardcore Wii titles with games such as Resident Evil but according to Capcom exec Antoine Seux, that is no longer the case:
“Development on Wii [is] very difficult, with an oversupply [of games] and a gamer market that has radically changed. [Hardcore games] are selling less and less on the console, [be it] MadWorld or Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop or House of the Dead: Overkill. Two years ago, there were still [hardcore] gamers on Wii, [but these have been] diverted from this console in favor of the new generation. The Wii console is very much a family commitment [and] rates relatively low. So for us, Capcom, the future is the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.”
So what does the future of the Wii hold? A bunch of mini game based titles? Let’s hope not.

Modern Warfare 2 has been out for some time now so it’s start to think about the next Call of Duty which will be developed by Treyarch. Consdering World War II has been so ridiculously played out and overused it wouldn’t make sense for them to base Call of Duty 7 during that era, but then what is left?
Well, rumors have begun circulating that Treyarch will in fact be basing CoD 7 during the Vietnam war. Of course, there have been virtually no official announcements regarding the matter so we’ll have to wait until Activision or Treyarch says something about it.
And, for those of you that don’t know, Treyarch is the studio behind Call of Duty: World at War while Infinity Ward is the studio behind Modern Warfare 2, got it?

The new year is upon us which means a whole slew of big titles are going to hit store shelves. One title in particular I’m looking forward to is a Zelda one. I don’t know about you guys but Zelda is one of the main reasons I bought a Wii in the first place. Previously there was no word on when a new major release would hit but Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has let us know today that it will be this year.
There were no details regarding the contents of said game but come E3 I’m sure we’re going to be a lot more familiar with it.
