After announcing the second DLC pack for Dragon Age, BioWare had some bad news: the DLC which was supposed to be released today will be delayed until tomorrow, the company announced on the official forums. While they didn’t mention exact details as to why it was delayed, it’s still just a day, and we’re sure gamers won’t mind. Right?

NPD, the grand daddy of sales figures in North America, is reporting that Nintendo sold a whopping 3 million Wii consoles in December, which is up considerably compared to 2008, where it sold 2.1 million units.

One game can be attributed to much of that success, and that’s New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which sold over 4 million units since it was released back in November, making it second only to Modern Warfare 2.

Apparently, a Finish studio by the name of “HMC” was apparently doing a live action fan movie of Duken Nukem, and true enough, while resembling Duke Nukem, it looks pretty lame and clichéd. Judge for yourself.

A few weeks ago, we reported that a sole developer by the name of Eric Ruth was making an unofficial 8-bit version of Left 4 Dead, which would be available for free download in January. Well, it’s January, and he kept his promise. The game is available for download on his site here.

Do you remember NBA Jam? The basketball title that made its debut on consoles like the SNES and had a pretty good run until Midway dropped it back in 2004? Well, fans of the series will be happy to hear that we may be looking at a possible reboot of the series but this time in the hands of EA.

News comes to us from ESPN who says EA Sports has secured the rights to the NBA Jam franchise from Midway and will be tasking their Vancouver development studio with a new title. Unfortunately, if ESPN is correct, we will only be seeing it on the Wii as it’s apparently an exclusive title. Bummer.

Alternatively, other sources are hinting at a possible XBLA and PSN title. All hope may not be lost.

tigerwoods

While Tiger Woods has been dropped by just about every one of his sponsors, the same can not be said with EA Sports. In fact, Peter Moore himself has stepped forward to let us know that EA Sports’ relationship with Woods has been based purely on sports and they have not been using his fame and public image to endorse their products.

Additionally, he was quoted to have said:

“Regardless of what’s happening in his personal life, and regardless of his decision to take a personal leave from the sport, Tiger Woods is still one of the greatest athletes in history.”

So, it looks like we will be seeing more EA Sports developed Tiger Woods titles in the future.

metalslugxx

If you were a frequent arcader goer back in the day you may remember Metal Slug. If not, you probably know what Metal Slug is anyways; a classic side scrolling shooter that had you destroying wave after wave of baddies. Over the years, the series has seen various console ports but today Sony has announced a new PSP title, Metal Slug XX which will be hitting store shelves February 23rd.

In addition to the run and gun gameplay we’ve all come to know and love, Metal Slug XX will feature mission based gameplay and the ability to link up with your friends via ad-hoc wireless for some multiplayer action.

Activision is pumping the “Hero” music games as much as it’s pumping Call of Duty for every penny, and only a few months after Guitar Hero 5 and DJ Hero came out, now it’s the time for Band Hero, which, as you might expect, resembles a lot like Guitar Hero, both in terms of gameplay and looks.

If you remember Guitar Hero 5, which had a pretty sweet multiplayer feature, well, Band Hero is pretty much that feature taken to a new level, with new tracks and characters. And that’s about it. There are 65 tracks in Band Hero — quite a few less than Guitar Hero, and the 65 tracks aren’t as “hardcore” either, they’re more to the casual/teen group. You know, the kind who listen to Tayor Swift and Spice Girls. And in order to keep a low ESRB rating and attract as many buyers as possible, the songs are quite censored as well. The career mode plays out like it has always played out in GH games, but in Band Hero, it’s a bit easier to beat, which is obvious since this is a family-oriented title. Read the rest of the review

wii

I’m not gonna lie, I’m not a big fan of the Wii. However, if I was locked up in the looney bin I’d have no problem playing the Wii for some entertainment. While most prisons don’t have such luxuries it was recently made known that the Broadmoor Hospital in the UK, which houses both rapists and murderers, has been given 22 Wii consoles.

What’s even funnier is these Wiis were paid for by UK taxpayers. Oh the irony.
