Machinarium was one of the best looking games to be released on 2009 (read our review here), but it was only a download-only title, and now fans of boxed games will get to enjoy the beautiful point and click adventure. For just $20, the box includes a concept art book, a poster, a printed walkthrough and the soundtrack as well. Definitely a great deal, and did we mention that the game is included as well?
PC game piracy is at a steady 90% according to some sources, which means that DRM makers are always fighting a war with the pirates, and so far, they’ve lost every battle. Ubisoft is planning on using a new DRM, which is online-based and will require an Internet connection. The new DRM will debut with The Settlers 7, and will give players the ability to install the game on as many system as possible, as long as it’s confirmed over the net — which will work pretty much like Steam, where you’ll need to be logged in to Ubi.com in order to play the game.
Just a quick note here for all you Mass Effect 2 owners (and we know there’s plenty of you, as the PC version drops today), the first DLC, called “Zaeed – The Price of Revenge” is available for free download. But you should probably complete the game first, which will take a few weeks anyway.
We only just heard that Lost Planet 2 would be hitting store shelves on May 18th and already more information about the game’s content is coming to light. This tim earound, it focuses on the special costumes which fans of the Gears of War franchise will be happy to hear about.
Included in the retail version of the game will be both Dom and Marcus from said franchise. What’s even better is we’ve included a trailer of the two in action for you above.
Unfortunately we have no details regarting how to obtain the special costumes or anything of that nature but we’ll keep you posted.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again — One of the best features, if not the best, of Call of Duty: World at War is Nazi Zombies. Sure, the actual game was cool but Nazi Zombies is really what had me lay down 60 bucks. Well, if you didn’t know, there is a version of the mini game available for the iPhone and iPod touch called Call of Duty: World at War: Nazi Zombies. Of course, just like everything else, you have to pay for it.
Luckily, a lite version has recently been spotted on the App Store that will give you access to the game and allow you to test it out, for free.
Just in case the normal Wii Classic Conroller wasn’t cool enough for you Nintendo has announced that the Wii Class Controller Pro will be made available in the United States this Spring.
The design of the controller looks curiously similar to that of the Playstation’s and will retail for $20. Unfortunately, the same problem that kept me from buying the regular controller remains the same; you have to plug it into the Wiimote. Now I understand Nintendo may be cutting costs not putting a wireless module in the controller and instead utilizing the Wiimote’s but come on, it’s just annoying.
Microsoft’s Xbox Live Points system is arguably deceptive, where a $10 item will cost 800 points, where most people think that it translates to $8, which it doesn’t, and Microsoft have now been sued over another “points” issue, which deals with the “leftover points” that members buy. For instance, buying 1600 points, spending 1500 of them on DLC, and then you’re stuck with 100 points which you can’t really buy anything for, and the points are not redeemable. You’re essentially forced to buy more points if you want to spend those last 100 points. Most people never do, and Microsoft basically profits the leftover points.
The class-action lawsuit was filed by Samuel Lassoff, a Philadelphia-based attorney who claims that Microsoft engages in a “scheme to unjustly enrich itself through their fraudulent handling” of his Xbox Live Account, and claims that hundreds of Xbox Live members aren’t getting what they’re paid for, saying, “Microsoft breached that contract by collecting revenues for digital goods and services which were not provided.”.
Microsoft has yet for file a response for the case. The company has been dealing with criticism of the points system for a while, and has said that they might even scrap the whole system and switch to cash purchases. However, there’s no indication that this will happen anytime soon.
Correction: we previously stated that $10 equaled 1200 MS Points, which was false, $10 equals 800 points.
After the “leak” of a few Halo Reach screenshots, Bungie has now released the full sized, full res screenshots and some concept art of the game as well.
Mass Effect 2 and Bad Company 2 have climbed to the top of the sales chart on Steam, and impressive feat, considering that neither of the games have been released and the sales are only for pre-orders of both games. Mass Effect 2 hits the shelves (and Steam unlock) tomorrow, while Bad Company 2 will be released on March 2.
The iPhone version of PopCap’s excellent Plants vs. Zombies game has been delayed for a little while, and has been moved from late-January to mid-February, PopCap announced via Twitter. It’s not that big of a deal, and we’re sure the wait will be worthwhile. It always is with PopCap.
