The last major petition we heard of that was targeted at Valve was the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott. It’s been some time since that petition died down but now another one has emerged, this one a bit less hostile — It’s been over 5 years since Valve released Counter-Strike: Source and we have yet to see a continuation of the series yet, which is what the above mentioned petition focuses on.
This Counter-Strike 2 petition group has already amassed over 25,000 people hoping to get Valve’s attention. Below is their mission statement:
“We want to bolster interest in CS so more people play it, and if we want to regain mainstream attention in the game it needs to be re released as Counterstrike 2. Even if it was just re released with some fixes/patches, additional official maps, a graphical upgrade and a new shiny box …Counterstrike would then survive as a franchise and become popular once again.”
I don’t know about you guys but Counter-Strike was one of the games that really got me hooked on first person shooters. I, for one, fully support the petition.

Developer Introversion has announced that the popular RTS Darwinia+ (“+” meaning that the game includes both Darwinia and Multiwinia (the multiplayer portion of the game)), will be available on Xbox Live on February 10, and will cost $15.

According to Interplay, the company recently announced a deal with Masthead Studios, which will license technology to Interplay for the Fallout MMO, which should, according to plans, have beta testing in 2012. Well, no matter what the deal with the game is, at least they’re planing ahead. Quite a lot ahead.

Mass Effect 2 has just hit the stores and it appears there’s a lot of interest from Hollywood to turn it into a movie — pretty much the same deal every successful game sees. However, BioWare isn’t that hopeful, as BioWare’s Casey Hundson puts it,
“Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about Mass Effect. The most important thing for us is, we don’t just want to see a movie get made … we want to see a great movie get made, if it’s going to get done at all.”
Meaning that we’ll probably never see a Mass Effect film, the same way we’ll never see a Half Life film. And that’s the way it should be.
