Rentak, the company which tracks game and movie rentals, has revealed the top rental titles of 2009, which Fallout 3 tops, not surprising at all. What is surprising, however, is that 17 of the top 20 games are Xbox 360 games. The top 20 list:

One of the most anticipated PS3 games of the year, Heavy Rain, has finally gone gold and is on track for its February 23 release date. Furthermore, a demo of the game has been confirmed for February 11, so make sure you got enough free space on your PS3. The demo will include two chapters from the game, certainly enough to showcase its full potential.

Bungie has confirmed that Halo Reach won’t be using Microsoft’s Natal motion controller, and will rely solely on the classic Xbox 360 controller layout. The obvious reason for this is that Natal will take over 10% of the Xbox 360 CPU, and for a game like Halo Reach, which will utilize every available resource, it’s quite a lot to ask for.

It was rumored for a while, but now parent company Koch Media has confirmed that developer Deep Silver Vienna has been shut down. The developer’s only released title was Cursed Mountain, and the title currently in production, Ride to Hell, will be completed at the Koch’s Munich studio.

The Penny Arcade Expo has always attracted large crowds (and exhibitors), and the expos on the West coast, held in Seattle, were likewise always sold out. Now the expo is headed East, with PAX East, and according to reports, all but 1,000 of the 60,000 tickets have been sold. PAX has yet to reveal who’ll be attending the show, who will exhibit and who’ll sponsor the event. And yet, it still manages to sell out. Quite a feat.

According to rumors from Develop, Sony’s Studio Liverpool, which was a merger between Psygnosis and Evolution Studios, has laid off half if its staff. When the studios merged, Sony said that during the restructuring, some staff may be laid off due to redundancies. It now appears to be true, however, 50% of the staff is more than was expected. Studio Liverpool is mostly known for marking the Wipeout series.
