When you think Nintendo, what is the first game you think of? For me, it’s Nintendo. But that’s probably just because I grew up playing Super Mario Bros. for the SNES. But anyways, Mario’s latest adventure Super Mario Galaxy 2 has just gotten a release date and that is May 23rd.
It’s been quite some time since we saw the unveiling of the DSiXL but Nintendo has yet to give us a North American release date and/or price for the device. If you weren’t aware, the DSiXL is exactly what it sounds like, an extra large Nintendo DSi.
Anyways, Nintendo has finally released word about it’s North American availability and it is set to drop on March 28th of this year for a none-too-bad $189.99.
For those waiting for a DS2, the XL will most likely be Nintendo’s last iteration of the DS as a DS2 with motion sensing is rumored to be in testing.
Nintendo’s legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto has won the prestigious Fellowship Award at BAFTA, which they describe as “the highest accolade the Academy can bestow on an individual for their creative work.”. We agree. Congrats, Miyamoto!
With the latest firmware update on the PS3, Sony managed to squeeze the memory footprint of the operating system from 120MB to 50MB, unlocking an additional 70MB for game developer to take advantage of. While 70MB doesn’t seem like much, remember that it’s over 10% more than before (the PS3 has 512 MB of total memory), which should give developers a wee bit extra buffer to play around with.
Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, the reboot of the series in HD graphics, has gotten quite a little deal for itself on Steam, where the game now retails for half price — only $7.50. You should strike now, because the deal is only on until March 2. You can check out our review of the game here.
A number of ex-Blizzard and ex-NCSoft employees have joined forces and formed En Masse Entertainment. Based in Seattle, the company is a subsidiary of MMO developer Bluehole Studio out of Korea, and En Masse will focus on porting Korean MMO games to the western market, and adjusting for the cultural differences.
It seems that the reign of Modern Warfare 2 is, somewhat, coming to and end. The weekly results for Steam has come in and Infinity Ward’s latest title isn’t first, hell it isn’t even second. In fact, those 2 spots have been secured by Aliens vs Predators and Battlefield: Bad Company 2, respectively.
Of course, Modern Warfare 2 was in a close third but what’s pretty amazing to me is that Counterstrike: Source is still on this list, after all these years.
Full list below:
1. Aliens vs Predator 2. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition 3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 4. THQ Complete Pack 5. BioShock 2 6. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising 7. Mass Effect 2 8. Left 4 Dead 2 9. Global Agenda 10. Counter-Strike: Source
Earlier this month we notified you of the various problems found in the PC version of BioShock 2. These problems included no game pad and messed up widescreen report. Well, the developers have now announced that a patch has been released that will address this problem.
Additionally, they have also said that a larger patch fixing some more crap, presumably, is in the works and is expected to drop sometime soon.
