It was just announced that QuakeCon 2010 will be held in Texas between August 12-15. If you’re familiar with BlizzCon, this is essentially the same thing except with id Software and Bethesda Softworks. There’s not much known about the contents of the even but the thing that sets it apart from BlizzCon is that this convention is free thanks to a sponsorship by parent company Zenimax Media.
More details regarding the event are expected to surface within the next couple of weeks, be sure to check back.

If you still haven’t hopped on the Xbox 360 bandwagon or just need a new console, you should check this one out. Microsoft has a new bundle in store for us and this time it includes both Halo 3: ODST, Forza Motorsport 3 and an Xbox 360 Elite console for just $300. For those who don’t know, the Elite is the 360 with a 120GB hard drive.
Amazon says that the bundle will go on sale March 9th. Hell, you’re even getting an invite to the Halo: Reach beta, not bad.

Before you read on make note that Steve Ballmer has been notorious for saying things that he didn’t mean to say. His latest remark is regarding the Xbox 360 that he gave during a Q&A session at the University of Washington. When asked about large-screen televisions and what Microsoft’s strategy was regarding the related hardware, Ballmer said the following:
For that big screen device … there’s no diversity. You get exactly the Xboxes that we build for you. We may have more form factors in the future that are designed for various price points and options, but we think it’s going to [be] important.
So, new form factors options and price points? Does this mean we will see a smaller Xbox 360 with new features (built-in WiFi?) and a smaller price tag? Let’s hope so and let’s also hope that Ballmer has his facts straigth this time around.

Now here’s something pretty damn cool — Microsoft has just shown off at TechEd Middle East how simple it is to develop a game that will work with an Xbox 360, PC and a Windows Phone 7 Series powered device. This means you develop a game in Visual Studio and then you’ll be able to play it on a PC with a keyboard, an Xbox 360 with a controller and a Windows Phone 7 Series device with the touchscreen and accelerometer. The amazing part of this is that all 3 versions of the game share 90% of the code.
This is obviously Microsoft’s push to unify their product line and I’m sure we will be seeing some amazing games coming out utilizing this method.

For those of you respectable people out there wanting to express their relationship orientation over Xbox Live, you can now do so. The Xbox Live Code of Conduct has been updated so people can now use the words ‘Gay’, ‘Straight’, ‘Lesbian’, ‘Bi’ and ‘Transgender’ in their Xbox Live gamertags and profiles.
While this is a good thing for those with legit reasons to use these terms, it’s also a bad thing because tons of people are sure to exploit this.
Oh well, let’s wait and see what happens.

It seems like BioShock 2 only just came out and already its first expansion pack is being announced. Entitled Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack, this DLC pack will be the first of many for BioShock 2 and will hit for the PC, Xbox 360 and PSN on March 11th for 5 bucks or 400 Microsoft Points.
This pack will include a rank cap to 50, 2 new playable characters, 20 new trials, a third weapon upgrade for each of the game’s weapons and 5 additional masks.
Again, this is only the first of many so expect more announcements in the near future.

There has been no official talks about GTA V but considering the magnitude of the franchise, it would be crazy for Take-Two to not announce another game. Janco Partners’ Mike Hickey, in particular, believed that Take-Two and Rockstar won’t even awit for E3 to make the big announcement, but instead make the announcement a few days before E3 in its own press event.
What’s even more is Hickey believes that due to the larger console install base, GTA V could outsell it’s predecessor but a hefty margin.
Let’s wait and see, E3 is only a few months away.

The original Portal was an amazing game. The developers did a great job taking the Source engine and putting a creative puzzle spin on it. Well, the game’s sequel, Portal 2, as just announced and it looks to be even more amazing than the first. The reason I say this is because Portal 2 is set to feature co-op. Just imagine the puzzle possiblities the developers will be able to throw in when you have 2 people to work with.
Unfortunately, that’s about the extent of information we have to go by now so we’ll have to wait until Valve says more.

You had to have seen this one coming — It was just announced that the Infinity Ward head honcos that recently got laid off are bringing Activision to court to the tune of $36 million. However, that’s not all they are suing for, they are suing for something worth much more than $36 million; control over the Modern Warfare franchise.
The reason for the law suit is as follows:
Activision terminated their employment weeks before they were to be paid substantial royalty payments as part of their existing contracts for Modern Warfare 2.
Regardless of what Jason West and Vince Zampella did, I can only imagine how pissed they must be that Activision isn’t paying them for the game they worked so hard on.

One of the biggest trends that the entertainment industry is moving towards is 3D. Going to the movie theaters and watching stuff pop out at you never ceases to amaze me. However, what if instead you could enjoy 3D video games in the comfort of your own home? Some might think this would take forever to catch on but recent rumors suggest that Killzone 3 will not only be in 3D but will also feature the Playstation Motion Controller.
Of course there is still no word from Sony or Guerilla Games but the source that told CVG seems pretty sure that Killzone 3 will drop this holiday season with both 3D and motion controlling.
