spaceinvaders

Video game movies have been good, and bad. One bad video game movie adaptation that immediately comes to mind is the Doom movie. I thought it was cool but most movie critics didn’t agree with me. Well, the latest speculated to be coming to the big screen is Space Invaders. Yes, Space Invaders.

The L.A. Times says that the Space Invaders movie is to be a “big-budget action-blockbuster” with producers such as Json Blum, Guymon Casady and Mark Gordon.

I just wonder, what the hell is the movie going to be like? Are they going to have a whole alien driven plot? They must considering it would be damn ridiculous to sit and watch some 8-bit space crafts descend on some 8-bit establishment.

We all know that Shaun White is one of, if not the best, snowboarders in the world. But, did you know he possess another athletic ability? No? Well, let me introduce you to Shaun White Skateboarding. This game has just been announced by Ubisoft and, well, I wonder how Tony Hawk is going to react.

The game is set to hit sometime this holiday season and “will provide an innovative twise and fresh take on the skateboarding and action-sports genre”. Honestly though, I don’t know what they could possibly do with a skateboarding game that EA’s Skate hasn’t already mastered. I guess we’ll come to find out later this year.

And, congrats to Shaun White for being filthy rich.

Other than CounterStrike and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, the game that really got me into online gaming was SOCOM: US Navy SEALs for the PS2. Sure, the game isn’t an FPS, but something about it had me playing until early in the morning. Well, much to my enjoyment Sony has just been nice enough to announce the newest installment to the series; SOCOM 4.
A trailer for the game is set to drop at some point today which we’ll let you know about. Sony comments on the game:

“Although you’re vastly outnumbered, you’re armed with the latest weaponry and your men are second to none – but do you possess the stealth, speed and tactical thinking to lead them to victory? Time is not on your side: you have just six days to complete your mission. To emerge victorious, you must lead from the front, maintain control of the situation and fight with sheer intensity.”

mafia2

It looks like 2K’s Mafia II is getting yet another delay. Previously scheduled for a release sometime before July, Take-Two has just announced that it is now scheduled for a Q4 fiscal release. The reason stated for this delay is quality control and further development. And, while this come as a discouragement to gamers anxiously awaiting its release, once the game actually comes out, those who waited will be rewarded with a much more polished game.

Anyways, we’ll keep you updated regarding the release date of Mafia II.

Late last month we let you know that the Just Cause 2 demo would be hitting early this month. Well, we are pleased to announced that the demo is now available through Xbox Live for free, of course. Unfortunately, there’s no word on a PC or PS3 release of the demo.

Like we said before, this demo will feature a full 35 square miles for gamers to explore. Sounds nuts, I’ll have to check it out.

thesims3

Considering the original Sims and The Sims 2 had a crapload of expansions it’s no surprise that The Sims 3 is following suit. The latest of such expansions is The Sims3 : Ambitions.

Ambitions lets you follow your Sim through a variety of jobs such as a detective, ghost hunter and many, many more. Additionally, Ambitions will include a “leveraging Build and Buy mode” as an architect and the ability to give your Sims tattoos.

Expect The Sims 3: Ambitions to his store shelves this June.

We recently let you know of the feud going on between Infinity Ward and Activision which led us to question the future of Infinity Ward’s invovlement in the Call of Duty franchise. We already knew that Treyarch was developing a title and then we learned that Sledgehammer would be developing an action-adventure Call of Duty title, but what about Infinity Ward?

Today, Activision CEO Mike Griffith has said that 2011 will see not only the Sledgehammer title but also an Infinity Ward Call of Duty title. This of course leads us to be believe that this title will be Modern Warfare 3.

Considering Activision is Activision and Modern Warfare 2 made as much money  as it did, it would be very unlike them not to make a third title.

It was just made known that NHL 2K11 will be taking a year off on the PS3 and Xbox 360 so that Take-Two can “become a stronger competitor in the category”. Instead, they will be relased NHL 2K11 only for the Wii.

This will leave the studio time to focus entirely on developing feasible hockey controls using the Wiimote.
