Not too long after notifying us of Neo Geo titles coming to the Playstation Network, the ESRB is at it again, this time giving us some details on the forthcoming Sonic 4.

Below is the description:

“This is a side-scrolling adventure game in which players zoom through themed levels, collect gold rings and jump on tiny robot enemies. Players earn points for collecting “power-ups” and freeing tiny animals that are trapped in the robots. During boss battles at the end of levels, players may encounter an arch nemesis in a mechanical device that gets charred and emits some flames when damaged.”

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? It should as it’s the same general outline of gameplay featured in all of the other Sonic games that we have come to know and love.

Sonic 4: Episode 1 will be out on the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 this summer.

ps3fat

If you have one of the older PS3s you probably know that it has been suffering from some technical difficulties. Technical difficulties in the sense that gamers have been unable to connect to the Playstation Network. Luckily, Sony has said that the problem lies with a bug in the clock functionality and it will be fixed within 24 hours.

What’s even worse is Sony has said that those experiencing the problem should not use their console until the problem is fixed because it could interfere with game saves.

assassinscreed2iphone

If you’re looking for a new game to play on your iPhone, Ubisoft has a great deal for you. For the next two days, Assassin’s Creed II: Multiplayer will be getting its price tag erased. Yes, that means it is absolutely free.

As the game suggests, Assassin’s Creed II: Multiplayer is a multiplayer game that has gamers venturing around, looking for other gamers to assassinate. Sounds fun, huh? How can you go wrong with a free game, anyways.

In a recent interview with GamesBeat, Epic Games‘ Mike Capps has went on record as saying, “We might have a new one coming. I think E3 is going to be very exciting for fans of Epic.” Might, huh? I think it’s pretty obvious that Epic is workin’ on something but what they are working on, is the question.

Hmm, it’s been over a year since Gears of War 2 made its way onto store shelves so perhaps they are fixin’ to announce Gears of War 3? Let’s hope so.

Thanks to the ESRB, we now know that 4 Neo Geo titles will most likely be making their way to the Playstation Network. The board recently put up ratings for the Neo Geo titles Alpha Mission II, Baseball Stars Professional, League Bowling, and Super Sidekicks with a release date on the PS3 and PSP.

Does this mean a huge back catalog of Neo Geo games will be making their way to the PSN or just these 4? We’ll have to wait and find out.

borderlands

Currently, if you want either of the Borderlands DLC packs you have to, well, download them. Luckily, 2k Games has just announced that they will be releasing a DLC compilation disc to retail that includes both The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned and Mad Moxxi”s Underdome Riot. The pack is apparantly only for the Xbox 360 and PC with no plans for a PS3 release.

We’ll keep you updated when more information is made known but chances are if you’re a Borderlands fan, you already have this.

toysoldiers

Got nothin’ to do this week? Have 1200 Microsoft Points laying around? Well then, you should check out Signal Studios’ Toy Soldiers a World War I-themed tower defense Xbox Live Arcade game.

As you can probably tell by the name the objective is to defend your base in both single-play and two-player modes using various toy units such as biplanes, snipers and mounted gunners.

Sounds pretty damn cool but when I first read this I thought it was a game based on the Small Soldiers movie and I was a lot more excited for it than I was now.

nintendodslite

The amount of thought that went into the naming of the Nintendo DS had to have been massive because Nintendo had to have known it was going to sell like hotcakes. DS makes sense, if it stands for Dual/Double Screen, that is, but what were some of the console’s code names?

During a WarioWare DIY interview, Satoru Iwata said the following:

“Iris was the codename of a next-generation device we were exploring to succeed the Game Boy Advance-in other words, before development of the Nintendo DS. Eventually, it became a two-screen device with the codename Nitro, which went out into the world as the Nintendo DS. So, broadly speaking, Iris was the foundation for the Nintendo DS.”

Heavy Rain was one of the most anticipated PS3 games since Killzone 2 two years ago, and it managed to live up to most of ts hype, or at least enough to move a respected half a million copies in its first week, according to VGChartz. However, this is just a speculation from their part — we’ll have to wait for the official sales numbers from Sony and/or NPD.
