Way back when Microsoft first introduced the ability to install and run games off of your Xbox 360′s hard drive, users were urged not to do it with one title in particular: Halo 3. For some reason, the way Bungie made the game allowed it to run better off of a disc than the hard drive, why is anyones guess.

Well now, Microsoft has apparantly done away with this warning now offering Halo 3 through their Games on Demand service which means you’ll be playing the game completely from the hard drive. Back in 2008 when Bungie first warned against this they said that some maps could potentially take longer to load when booted from the hard drive.

Now, when questioned by Kotaku, Bungie has responded with the following statement:

“To our knowledge there was no additional work done on the code to optimize the game for HDD [harddrive] installation.”

So, have any of you bought the game virtually? If so, let us know how it went in the comments.
