Did you get an iPad on Saturday? If so, you’re definitely going to want to know that Capcom has just released an iPad version of their Resident Evil 4 iPhone/iPod touch game for $12.99. The game will play just like the iPhone one but this version utilizes the iPad’s larger screen with some high res textures in addition to an ‘improved Visual pad control system’.

It was just announced that Codemasters, the guys behind games like DiRT2 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, have sold off 50% of their business to an Indian firm called Reliance Big Entertainment. The guys in charge of the Codemasters investment will be Reliance’s gaming division entitled Zapak Digital Entertainment. If you’re not familiar with them don’t fret, I wasn’t at first either, but they are apparantly one of the largest gaming companies in India, specializing in things like MMOs, physical distribution and gaming cafes.

There’s no telling what will come out of this partnership but let’s hope it’s in Codemasters’ favor.

There’s been numerous Battlefield: Bad Company 2 deals but if you’re just looking for the game on either the PS3 or Xbox 360, you can pick it up now from Amazon.com for just $47. This compares to GameStop which has the game for $59.99.

If you’re a bit iffy about Battlefield: Bad Company 2 something you should know is that it’s not as fast paced as Modern Warfare 2, because I’m sure you’ve played that. But, if you’re bored of Infinity Ward’s golden boy or are just looking for something new, definitely check out Bad Company 2.

Check out the deal here.

It’s been quite some time since 3D Realms and Duke Nukem Forever as we know it ceased to exist. However, that doesn’t mean that footage from the unreleased (and presumably unfinished) game will stop leaking out. What you seea bove is a brand new leaked trailer for the game featuring everything from shooting baddies and driving monster trucks to playing the slots and solving puzzles.

The more I see of this game the more I wish that the developers would get off their asses and finish the game. It looks badass.

Perfect Dark, the spiritual successor to one of the finest FPS games in history, GoldenEye, was released back in 2000. And in is own right, Perfect Dark was a worthy successor. Finally, developer Rare has created an updated version, and since Rare is now owner by Microsoft, the game is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

First of all, the game features updated visuals, but that’s about it regarding to stuff that’s updated. It still sports the same campaign, same characters (led by super-agent Joanna Dark) and the gameplay is pretty much the same as well. If you expect to be blown away by production values — which are nothing special — you should look elsewhere, because Perfect Dark isn’t meant to find new audiences, it’s meant as a flashback of nostalgia for the fans of the original game, a good 10 years ago.

Perfect Dark follows protagonist Joanna Dark though various missions around the world, where she completes tasks and kills lots and lots of baddies with an array of weapons. And there’s multiplayer, and that’s about it. This time, multiplayer is carried online as well, in addition to the regular split-screen mode (which is just as fun). However, the online component tends to lag quite a bit, especially when all player slots are filled up.

While the online multiplayer is a welcomed addition, there ancient controls mechanics, level design and gameplay elements pale in comparison to today’s games, and Perfect Dark certainly won’t win new fans with the remake. But as said earlier, it’s not meant to get a new audience, it’s meant for those who played the original on the Nintendo 64. Some of the aspects that would’ve been improved but weren’t are the audio and voice over, which is quite horrible, to say the least — especially the voice acting for the protagonist seems out of touch with the character. But this was the case back 10 years ago as well, and if you’re interested in reliving some of your old memories, your $10 are well spent with Perfect Dark.

The Good:
Great chance to relive old memories
Still fun

The Bad:
Feels very dated (but nostalgic)
Online play lags

Overall score: 8/10

The Internet has been talking recently about the PSP reaching the end of its life cycle. I don’t know how they can even call it a life cycle considering the game library for the PSP was so lackluckster. But anyways, this talk has led many to speculate a PSP 2 being released by Sony. Sure, they had the PSP Go, but that was hardly a successor to the PSP and wasn’t well recieved.

Well today, the resume of Dominic Mason from AtomFire Productions has been spotted that says he developed for a PSP 2. Does this mean he knows something we don’t?

We’ll have to wait until this year’s E3 to find out.

tonyhawkproskater

Until the Tony Hawk franchise took a nose dive with Ride, I was a huge fan of it. Sure, the gameplay was a bit played out but it was gameplay that we’ve all come to know and love. If you’re like me and prefer the retro Tony Hawk games, you’ll be happy to hear that Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 has just been made available for the iPhone and iPod touch for $9.99.

Despite the high price tag, I’m going to get this one just because I want to see what the controls are like on a touch screen. What about you?

nightvisiongoggles

The Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package has just recently hit and has had gamers everywhere shaking their fists at the $15 price tag. Well, to ease the pain of the ridiculous price tag, Microsoft has been nice enough to supply us with a set of free Avatar Night Vision Goggles.

This will be good for those of you who wanted to get the actual NVGs as featured in the Prestige Edition but didn’t get a chance to get your pre-order in on time.

scconviction

Not too long ago we let you know that the PC version of Splinter Cell: Conviction was getting delayed until April 27th. This led many gamers to ponder whether the delay was regarding Ubisoft’s DRM software. Well, according to Ubisoft, no the delay has not at all been related to DRM:

The reason that has been given for the delay is that the extra time was need to polish and debug the game. The slip has not been linked to the DRM.”

Let’s hope that means the DRM will actually work when the game hits.
