nintendodslite

Sure, the Nintendo DS Lite may not be the latest and greatest Nintendo DS on the market (hell, it’s certainly no Nintendo 3DS) but if you’re looking to get down on the DS movement, we have a great deal for you. Slickdeals has just notified us that Dell Home is holding a promotion that will allow you to pick up a Nintendo DS Lite in Cobalt/Black or Crimson/Black for just $99 with free shipping.

Compared to prices on Amazon.com that’s a savings from about $20 – $30. Not bad. Check it out here.

On May 3rd, the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta will be released which is huge news for Halo fans everywhere. Bungie is feeling pretty good about the beta, saying that it will reach at least 3 million people when it drops.

Bungie’s community manager Brian Jarrad has said “My expectation is it could be upwards of 3 million people,” then going on to say that it is “a fairly conservative estimate.” This means we’ll probably be seeing a lot more than 3 million people playing the beta.

Will you guys be playing Halo: Reach come May 3rd? Let us know in the comments. Perhaps we’ll have some sort of Halo: Reach DigitalBattle meet up. What do you guys think?

If you wanted to race on four wheels, you have a huge assortment of games to play, from Forza, to Need For Speed, to Burnout and so on. But if you’re into two wheeled motorcycle racing, particularly the realistic kind, there’s usually one option: MotoGP. And for the past few years, it has dominated that genre, mostly because of a lack of competition, but also because it was a somewhat a competent series. The latest edition, MotoGP 09/10, adds a great deal of features, but sadly, as before, the game is far from perfect.

The center of MotoGP 09/10 is the impressive career mode, which now has been expanded beyond just racing, as you move through your career, you’ll have to hire staff, engineers and even press folks to help you cope with everything. This adds a great deal of depth and realism, but its not what the game is about — it’s the racing. And for the most part, the racing is pretty solid, but as you play along, you begin to notice bugs here and there, and they all add up to a game that ultimately feels unpolished. The gameplay feels a bit unbalanced, as certain aspects feel arcade-ish, while others feel very simulation-like. However, you get used to this quickly. What’s harder to get used to however, is the HUD of the game, which is far too packed with information and details you don’t really need, and have no chance of catching during a high speed race. Similarly, The AI isn’t that good and often acts quite unrealistic. For instance, you can win the qualifying races by a huge margin, only to find that during the race, your opponents are far better than in qualifying.

Multiplayer-wise, the game is better, with very smooth and lag free online play, and plenty of features to keep you busy. However, like most other racing games, online is a whole other territory, and don’t expect your human opponents to act according to the rules. In addition to that, there’s always split-screen mode, which is a welcomed addition. Overall, MotoGP 09/10 is an improvement over the previous version, however, quite a few bugs and lack of polish take away some of the joy of playing it. Still though, we’re confident that fans of two-wheeled racing will find it good enough to check out.

The Good:
Good campaign, lots of depth
Great selection of bikes and tracks
Great online component

The Bad:
Campaign stretches too far
A lot of bugs

Overall score: 7/10

Are you cheating in any of Blizzard’s games? If so, you better watch out as it has come to light that Blizzard is banning a whole slew of users. In fact, it was recently announced that Blizzard will be banning a whole 320,000 Warcraft III and Diablo II players.

If you’re a legimate player, you have nothing to worry about. All of these bannings will be dished out only to those who have been confirmed to be cheaters. Remember folks, cheaters never prosper.

gt5

Gran Turismo 5 has been in development seemingly forever but it seems like the guys over at Polyphony Digital were actually rushed with its completion. I say this because Polyphony head honcho Kazunori Yamauchi has said that while he will be satisfied that work is finally done, he won’t be satisfied with the finished product.

Below is his quote:

“I’d probably be relieved [to finish development] in terms of having fulfilled my responsibilities, but I may be angry at the same time. As it has been with all of the releases so far, I’m never fully satisfied with what I create.”

Well, Mr. Yamauchi, with all of the time you’ve taken to develop GT5 we better see a damn near perfect game when it finally drops.

mafia2

2K GamesMafia II has gotten delayed a countless number of times but that doesn’t mean the studio is stopping the hype train anytime soon. In fact, they have recently went on record to say that the city featured in the game is about a third of the size of Liberty City featured in Grand Theft Auto 4.

Sure, this may not seem like a notable feat but due to the smaller size, 2K Games is saying that they will be given time to properly polish every square inch of real estate and deliver a near flawless (hopefully) games.

Capcom is including a very unique feature with their latest title, Super Street Fighter IV. That feature is the Tournament Mode DLC pack which will be made available free of charge on May 15th.

Now, the game is set to drop for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 27th but when the Tournament Mode DLC pack is made available, you will be able to host a tournament with up to 8 players through Xbox Live or the Playstation Network.

This should definitely be good for the game considering video game leagues like Major League Gaming went the Tekken route instead of Street Fighter. Perhaps this will change their mind.
