Valve has released a new Left 4 Dead 2 game mode for “The Passing” DLC. Called “Last man on earth”, it’s exactly what it sounds like: a single-player mode where the player assumes the role of the last man on earth, and must deal with a lot of zombies. On your own.

Blizzard has extended the StarCraft 2 beta until June 7. The beta was expected to be ended on Monday, but beta participants will now be able to play for another week. The game will be released on July 27.

In Ubisoft’s E3 press release, the publisher mentions a new Driver game to be showcased at E3, despite never actually officially announcing it — which is what E3 is apparently meant for. But it kinda ruins the surprise if you pre-announce your announcement in something as tiresome and boring as a press release. Anyways, look forward to seeing Driver at E3 in July.

Capcom has revealed that 2 more multiplayer maps are incoming for Lost Planet 2, which should arrive next week. The maps are called “Frozen Wasteland,” which is based on the map from Lost Planet 1, and “Dockyard Battle”, based on the campaign mission. The maps will retail for $5.

There are a few ways of saving an ailing franchise, or a company. One is to make a decent game, and another is to change the name. Which is what EA has done to its oldest sports franchise, NBA Live. It’ll now be know as NBA Elite, and we guess it’ll be just as bad as the previous games. But a little easier to sell given the new name.

According to Atari’s 2009 financial statement, developer CD Projekt is working on The Witcher 2, an RPG which is set for release on the PC in Spring of next year. According to a statement from the developer, they still plan on bringing the action RPG to consoles, and with a year of development to go, it looks like a plausible goal.

According to fresh rumors from ESPN, Michael Jordan himself is set to grace the cover of NBA 2K11, which would be the first time a retired athlete would be on the cover of a basketball game (or any other sports game for that matter).

Kane & Lynch 2 is shaping up to be — or at least it appears to be — better in most ways the original game, and the multiplayer is looking to be a pretty good component, with a cops vs. robbers gameplay.

According to rumors, Legendary Pictures, the production company behind The Dark Knight and The Watchmen, has acquired the movie right to BioWare’s Mass Effect series. I am Legend writer Mark Protosevich has been summoned to write the script, while they’re still looking for a director.
