Yesterday we reported that Chinese MMO publisher Perfect World has bought a majority stake in Torchlight developer Runic Games, and now the developer has announced that their Diablo-inspired hack-n slash Torchlight RPG has sold an impressive 500,000 copies, without much of a marketing campaign. The game usually sells for $20, making it a lot easier on the wallet.

Finally a real Call of Duty Black Ops trailer, where we get to see a lot of what the game has to offer — even if it’s for only a few frames at a time. The game is scheduled for release on November 9, 2010.

Chinese MMO publisher Perfect World has announced that it has acquired a majority stake in Torchlight developer Runic Games, for a rumored $8.4 million. Perfect World has previously worked with Runic, having the exclusive rights to publish the game. Runic is developing a Torchlight based MMO, so it makes a lot of sense that Perfect World is acquiring a stake. The MMO is expected to be released in 2012.

According to rumors, the above motherboard is of the upcoming Nintendo 3DS. The board was spotted at the FTC testing facility, so there’s some credibility to the source (a lot, we’d say). Eurogamer has some analysis on the board, and it appears to be legit and a piece of hardware submitted by Nintendo to the FTC.

Mac gamers rejoiced after Valve unveiled that Steam was coming to Mac, however, it now seems that while Steam is on Mac, it has taken a massive performance dump in the transition. According to several tests, including at Tom’s Hardware and AnandTech, Portal on OS X is up 80% slower on than compared on the windows version, and is on most MacBook laptops, even high end Pros, unplayable at anything but the lowest settings. Hopefully Valve will improve performance in updates.

Remember Mirror’s Edge? DICE’s first game in ages that didn’t feature “Battlefield” in its title? It had some interesting FPS parkour styled gameplay with lots of jumps, slides and rooftop races. Ubisoft has announced the first DLC for Splinter Cell Conviction, which goes under the name “Insurgency Pack” and will be released May 27 on the Xbox 360 and PC for $10. The DLC includes four new maps, whihc span from San Francisco to a New Orleans cemetery, a prison in Portland to a hidden research complex in Salt Lake City.

What’s shaping up to be one of the more interesting MMO offerings over the past year, LEGO Universe is now available for pre-order at retail stores and on www.legouniverse.com. The asking price of $40 USD gets you the game plus a 30 month subscription. There is still no official launch for the game, but it’s anticipated that it will be in stores this summer.

Square Enix, and developer Crystal Dynamics are taking the Tomb Raider franchise in a new direction, with an arcade-ish Tomb Raider game which reminds more of Diablo and Torchlight than it does of previous Tomb Raider titles.
