Here we go again. Again. After five years in development and $60+ million dollars, Gran Turismo 5 was supposed to be on the Japanese store shelves this March. It’s now May and the game is still far from release, and sources tell us that it has been bumped to Fall 2010, most likely September, with the international release coming in November.

The game is reportedly “90% complete”, with the the 140+ development team now working around the clock to add 3D to the game.

Apparently it was Sony that ordered 3D to be added to the game, as the company is pushing 3D as one of the main features of the PS3 in the future. However, we weren’t able to confirm whether Sony or developer Polyphony Digital decided that 3D was worth the wait. Furthermore, while the regular “2D” mode will be in 1080p, the 3D mode will be in 1080i at 30 frames per second.

Sony has only confirmed that it would be released in 2010, and has yet to set a formal release date. This is expected at E3.

Thanks to Hiroshi for the tip!
