Battlefield 1943 was supposed to be released on the PC this February. Then it was July. And now, the release date is unknown — and to prove that EA is really unsure, they’ve refunded the folks who pre-ordered the game. Don’t expect to see BF1943 before the end of this year. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions where released over a year ago.
Gaming Heads, makers of video game based action figures and figurines, has announced a limited edition of the “Tank” enemy from Left 4 Dead. It will stand 15 inches tall, and only 750 will be made. Oh, and it’ll retail for $350.
Resistance: Fall of Man maker Insomniac Games has announced that they plan to unveil a brand new title at this years Penny Arcade Expo, which starts early September. Most speculate that the “new project” is simply Resistance 3, but it might be possible that Insomniac unveils something new altogether.
Here’s some news that’ll excite Battlefield and FPS gamers: The Limited Edition of Medal of Honor will include a beta key for Battlefield 3. DICE and EA state that the beta for Battlefield 3 will be released within 12 months of the release date of MoH, which probably means early 2011.
THQ and Russian developer 4A Games have announced a new DLC called “Ranger Pack”, which will be released next week. It’s not as much of a DLC as it’s just an option to play in “ranger mode”, where enemies are tougher and ammo and resources are less frequent. The new “DLC” will cost $3.
Valve has announced plans of increasing the amount of Mac games on Steam by giving away some of its Mac-specific code to developers. It’s not much they’re giving away though, and for developers to use it, they must sign up to Steamworks and offer the game on Steam, of course.
Famed game creator (and space man) Richard Garriott has won a lawsuit over NCsoft where he was forced to sell his stock. The court awarded Garriott $28 million, quite a bit, but still less than the $47 million he demanded.
Nintendo has announced an announcement on September 29 where they will reveal the price and launch date for the upcoming 3DS. Nintendo has previously confirmed a 2011 launch, but no specific date was given. Pricing wise, industry analysts expect the 3DS to retail from $200 to $250.
Nintendo has released their quarterly earnings for the second quarter of fiscal year 2011, and compared to last year, the sales were down. Nintendo has revenues of $2.16 billion, compared to $2.9 billion the year before.
The DS saw sales of 3.15 million units and 22.42 million games, while the Wii sold 3.04 million consoles and 28.17 million games.
