Rockstar’s noir thriller LA Noire is still going to be released according to plan, which means this year. But if we know anything about Rockstar and general game development, the game is far from ready for a 2010 release — if it was, we’d see all kinds of trailers and promo material these days. But there isn’t anything. Both GameStop and Amazon list the game for release on February 1, 2011, at the earliest. We expect it to hit the stores next summer. But that’s just us here at DigitalBattle.

From the mind of HotHead Games and the creator of Monkey Island comes DeathSpank, an RPG with a unique sense of style and humor. In fact, if you’re a fan of Monkey Island, you’ll love DeathSpank and its characters, dialogue and the sheer uniqueness of the game.

In DeathSpank, you follow a character called DeathSpank, and you’re on a quest to find a McGuffin called “The Artifact”. And while it plays out like a standard RPG, more or less, it features a unique art style that unlike most other games — in fact, unlike any game out there today. In good old RPG fashion, you can collect loot when killing enemies, and you can also level up and gain new skills and weapons and ways of destroying your enemies. On a basic level, there isn’t much innovation here for RPGs sake, but the style and humor make it an all together wonderful experience.

However, while it’s a dowloadable title, the campaign and depth is quite solid, and there’s 6 hours of great gameplay to be had — pretty good for a downloadable, $15 title. On top of that, there’s replay value in a co-op mode, where the second play plays as Sparke, your wizard side kick. Not to mention that you can level up, as expected from any RPG.

The visuals are top notch, the art style and atmopshere are something that hasn’t been seen in RPGs, and the audio and soundtrack add well to the overall production. The dialogue and voice acting are hilarious, and Monkey island fans will definitely appreciate that aspect. Overall, DeathSpank is certainly worth the $15, if we could pick something which didn’t live up to the rest of the game, it would be the co-op mode, which is rather limited. Oh, and some of the missions might get repetitive.

The Good:
Wonderful visual and artwork
Lengthy campaign — great value for money
Great humor and dialogue

The Bad:
Some missions can get repetitive
Co-op could be mode fledged out

Overall score: 9/10

Microsoft beat both Intel and AMD to creating world’s first “fusion” chip, which combines the CPU and GPU + other stuff on the same piece of silicon chip. The chip, called “Vejle”, is built on 45nm an has the CPU, GPU, memory controller, 10 MB Ram, and I/O on the same die, which means only one cooler is required, and also, according to Microsoft, it consumes 60 percent less power while taking up half the space of the old chips.

After fighting for a long time with domain squatters over the bioshock.com domain, Take-Two has lost a judgment from WIPO, which rules on domains and trademarks online. Apparently, the domain was registered well before BioShock came out, and well before Take-Two filed for trademark for “BioShock”. Heck, why didn’t Take-Tow just purchase the domain from the owners in the first place?

Japan is Microsoft’s weakest market — they’re hopelessly trailing behind Sony and Nintendo, but they’ve still managed to sell over a million consoles in a land where domestic games rule. Microsoft has announced that the 4GB Arcade version of the new Xbox 360 will be released in Japan on September 9, and will carry a 20,000 Yen price tag, or $230.
